Gee, thanks, ESPN.

For some unknown reason, game time for South Carolina has been set at 4:30 pm.  Just lovely.

I can’t remember another game at Sanford which started in the late afternoon like that.  Anybody else know?

UPDATE:  Oh, yeah.  There was a previous South Carolina game with an odd start time.

It’s guaranteed to be a bazillion degrees, give or take. Maybe it’ll cool down to the mid 90s by the 4th quarter…

Will Garcia have enough time to get a 12 pack in him before kickoff?

4:30 pm sounds great. We should be completely carmelized by the end of the first quarter. Actually, we would be carmelized by kickoff after a few hours of tailgating in the heat of the blast furnace day, except that Czar Mike will probably ban tailgating completely and make us all ride buses (for a modest fee. Shut up, you have TWO kidneys, right?) to and from Gwinnett Place Mall for the games. It’s really a public health issue, and the Czar loves us and wants us to have a heat stroke someplace other than on UGA’s grounds.

    thanks, Czar!!!!

I can’t remember a 4:30 kickoff, but it seems like we have more games that kickoff after 1 in Georgia than we did last year.

Why couldn’t we just get a real night game?

Whine, whine, whine! What are ya’ll, a bunch of sissies? Can’t stand a little heat? Down here in South Ga we love the heat, and the gnats. The little flies, not the trade school crowd, they are the NATS. Heat and gnats keep some of the yankees away. It’s 100 here now and I like it, I love it! I am going outside right now and enjoy the heat. So go to the game and enjoy the sunshine. I will be with you in spirit, we are going to the beach that weekend, but I WOULD be there! Now I’ll put on my swim trunks and go enjoy a cold beer and the heat. In the pool.

I think boise 05 was at 5:30. ESPN2 used to have a 5:30 sec game back in the 90s

After the ridiculous traffic , 4 minute tailgate, and 12:00 start in Columbia last year (ON TOP OF HOT WEATHER), I will gladly take this any day. Keep in mind, this will be the latest kickoff in Athens since the ’09 Kentucky disaster. So let’s not bitch too much. At least Athens will be rocking before, during, and WELL after the game.

Our last home win kicked off at 7:45pm.

UGA’s punishment of its fans finally appears to be over.

Either UGA thinks we are mature enough to handle it now or they are getting desperate for TV dollars again.

Game scheduling for UGA fans always results in bitching. Maybe this is part of the reason other fanbases refer to us as whiny.

It would be a lot cooler sitting in me than a 4:30 game time. Get ready for massive puking.

Love it. Will be celebrating downtown in time to watch the sun setting on another wasted SCU preseason national championship.

I think 4:30pm is a fine time to tee it up between the hedges.

Like somebody said above, if you aren’t a fan of heat, you shouldn’t be living in Georgia.

I was at that game – it was hot as blazes – oh yeah, and we pounded them into the ground – the only score they had was late in garbage time, and then we returned an onside kick for a touchdown….I’ll take that again any day, heat and all 🙂

Prefer they change the Boise game to 4:30, just poor decision making to put the UGA/Boise and the LSU/Oregon at the same time when they are the two best games on the opening weekend. Actually prefer they move us to Thursday night and give us two more days to prepare for SC.

Not normally a fan of non-Saturday hickoffs for us Dawgs during the regular season but opening game of the entire CFB season (Clemson under the newly-installed lights, 1982) is always an exception. Seems to me they should owe us, what with all of Spurrier’s thursday nights over the past 5 years – something like 4 out of the last 5. Neat idea, McGarrity should be on the horn to the WWL about it.

I think our first 2 games in ’05 were 5:30 kickoffs, though my memory may be slipping. Boise St. (as mentioned above) def was, and I think South Carolina was as well. I remember losing about 15 lbs in 2 weeks, considerable considering all the beer I was drinking my Senior year in Athens. Brutal heat, but still better than 1pm.
