Musical palate cleanser: ode to a crowd

For those of you who weren’t in attendance on Saturday, Marshall Crenshaw has a message for you.

It’s almost criminal that this guy never made it bigger.

  1. Steve Shaw, Head of SEC Officials at Macon TD Club last night

    Interesting:

-> Slive asked for more transparency Nbr 1 (pretty easy to be more transparent than Rogers Redding imo)

-> Shaw has a technical background at Bell South and promoted the wiring up of the crews

-> Wants to add an 8th official as in the Big 10 this year

-> Said they reviewed the UGA vs LSU no calls on the possible Pass Interference. Out of 4 possibles – One should have been called. The other 3 were on the side of let them play.

-> If the Offense goes Up Tempo and substitutes, the Defense has 3 seconds to begin substituting. Once they start – the Defense can take a reasonable time to substitute. Said the Defense has started having one or two guys ready to go on the field within 3 seconds and then the call comes down and they substitute to scheme. SEC tries to be consistent time wise, however, other conferences are not in synch with the SEC or even within some conferences.

=> Targeting = feels the 15 yard penalty will be removed it targeting is overturned by the replay official – but not until next year. Says the Official on the field may call Unnecessary roughness and targeting and then if the targeting is removed, the 15 yard Personal file would remain.

Music Opinion Alert: Very much like U2 crushed Big Country, The Alarm, The Waterboys, etc; Elvis Costello crushed some folks, too (Sorry, Marshall). Not on purpose, mind, but MTV bit off a little more than it could chew back in those heady days.

Wonder if Marshall’s still Rockin’ Around in NYC.

His first album was real, and it was spectacular.

+1. I personally like “Mary Ann” and “There She Goes Again” from that same album the best. “Someday, Someway” got all the attention (it IS a terrific song) but other songs on that album were great, too. That album, MARSHALL CRENSHAW, was named one of the Top 100 albums of the 80s (by Billboard, I think).

I looked it up. Rolling Stone named MARSHALL CRENSHAW as the #72 album of the 80s.
