Quayvon Hicks channels his inner Crash Davis: “Thinking, that’s a part of football that really doesn’t matter.”
You just got lesson number one: don’t think; it can only hurt the ball club.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
It is a great quote from Hicks. He needs to play like that. Hope he mashes people on saturday.

My old coach used to tell us that all the time. Someone would screw up a play and he would ask them why. Inevitably the player would say, “Coach I thought…”. He would cut them off, “Son I didn’t tell you to think!”.

Young players think…experienced players react, they don’t have to think.

If the coach in the film room reviewing that play says, “we’ve got some miscommunication there” then I think we’ve found the problem.

Hey Hicks, were you thinking or reacting when you let the guy block the punt? You need to concentrate, understand your assignment, and react. Yes, when you’re thinking instead of just reacting; you can’t play as fast. However, you need to understand your assignment and play fundamental football. Like making sure you block the buy so he doesn’t push past you to block and punt at a very crucial time. How does this guy play so well against Clemson and USC and then nothing?
