Quite a week Mr. Chubb is having.
Quite a week Mr. Chubb is having.
Nick Chubb posted a 10.79 in today's 100 meter preliminaries for Class AAAA. Will be one of 8 running for the state title tomorrow.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Any chance he’s going to play two sports? Our men’s Track and Field team is #6 in the country right now.

He’s fast, but not college track fast. None of his numbers are at division 1 college level. Thirty years ago Herschel ran 10.3 and was just better than average on the college level. If you aren’t consistently under 10.5 you aren’t a college track guy. He could probably do well as a decathelete given his long jump and shot put distances but that’s not something you do part time.

That’s assuming Chubb has received quality track instruction and extensive training reps leading up to meets. On the latter, 5-star FB likely hasn’t and won’t though.

Herschel was a two-time All-American in track at Georgia, and ran right up there with with Carl Lewis, Stanley Floyd and Harvey Glance, the biggest names in U.S. sprinting in the 1980′s.
Point taken, but I’d say Herschel was far greater than “just better than average”.

Multi event athletes (decathlon) get a lot of points for the team. Based on his shotput toss I was curious…

Pretty impressive that Chubb is as fast in the 100 as Reggie Davis.

If we get him past the line he’s got a chance.

Wikipedia says Keith Marshall’s season best time in high school was 10.7.

Wikipedia says Marshall’s best was a 10.2. It says that Gurley’s best was a 10.7. If Chubb is as fast as a fully healthy Gurley, we will be some extremely happy fans for the next three years.

I hope Marshall still gas that extra gear after his recovery, dude could turn it on.
As my GrandDad used to say, faster than greased lightning.

I cannot confirm, but I saw a post on another site…

Only one Athlete in Ga. HS history has won a Class State Championship in both the shot put & the 100 meter dash…
Chubb is seeded 2nd in the 100 meter today…
The only HS athlete to accomplish this??? Herschel Walker…

It is not possible to be “the next Herschel.” Nobody today can be as big as the lb’s and faster than all the db’s. He can’t be duplicated.

We have SOOOO many good RBs…..do you think maybe we could get some O-linemen to block for them?
LikeLike
Well Mayor; tell me how does an offense put up nearly 40 points a game and over 400 yards per game for the last two years without some O-linemen blocking? Have there been missed blocks/assignments? Sure. But somebody up front (along with the O line coach and OC), must be doing something right to produce one of the most prolific offenses in the NCAA the last few years.

You make a good point Route 66–has to be good O-line protection. Obviously it must not be because of the most prolific passer in SEC history as none of the NFL “geniuses” want to draft him, or any of the draft eligible receivers (Artie Lynch anyone?) either.
