Hell hath no fury like Mitch Mustain’s mom.

So, I mentioned that Houston Nutt and Gus Malzahn buried the hatchet.  Beck Campbell, whose earlier claim to fame was having a direct hand in short circuiting her son’s once promising football career, would like to take a hatchet of her own and bury it… in Nutt and Malzahn.

“Mitchell was caught in the middle of Gus and Houston. Even if he had been the biggest snot of a kid, and he wasn’t, he didn’t deserve to be treated like that. It all boiled down to the animosity Nutt harbored toward Gus because he was forced to put Gus on staff,” she says. “Mitchell got the brunt of it because he was in a position to be manipulated. They set him up to fail.”

Campbell said she expects Nutt to paint a rosy picture because, “He is a bad man, a bad person.”

She says the feelings of betrayal run deeper with Malzahn because he was a trusted family friend. Malzahn has had opportunities to divulge his side of the story but has stayed tight-lipped. “He told me he was going to take care of Mitchell and not let him get hurt. I trusted [Malzahn],” she says. “It would be like if I took someone’s kids to the beach, and they got sucked in a riptide, and I just walked away, didn’t call the paramedics or anything. Just left.”

Yeah, he “just left”, but asked Mustain to transfer with him and offered him a spot as a grad assistant on his Auburn staff.

I’m just sorry she didn’t follow through on the lawsuit she thought about bringing against Nutt and Broyles.  You know Pork Rind Jimmy would have been on that mother.

  1. Yeah, playing big-time college football is kind of like drowning. Got it.

And then, just to pour salt in the wound, Nutt and Malzahn forced Mustain to transfer to the school with the most talented stack of QBs and bury himself on their depth chart, never to be heard from again. A pox on them.

People talk about Malzhan’s ethics. But if you use a kid to get a College job, than you are sleazy. I guess he and Auburn were a match made in heaven.

So…mom gets fooled by Houston and Gus…will never forget, never forgive.

Like sands through the hour glass, these are they days…..

Maybe mom should take some therapy about trusting liars.

Sometimes it’s hard for a dork in the people helping business

“Run it up, Nutt, and when you feel a twinge of remorse, think about ‘Pork Rind Jimmy,’ the yokel who crashed a spring practice in 2007 as a pretend reporter. ‘Pork Rind Jimmy’ asked Nutt an embarrassing personal question, had a friend videotape the whole thing, and put the exchange on the Internet….

Run it up, Nutt, and do it for Broyles. And for Beck Campbell, who also put out an FOIA on Nutt’s phone records. And for Mustain, who called Nutt a ‘dork’ in a book that came out when Mustain was still the dork’s quarterback.”

So far it’s worked for Malzahn. He’s come out looking like the smartest man in the room every time.

He hasn’t had a lot of competition.”

You know DIF, for a while there I feared that somehow the crazed fan/we should win them all crowd would get traction. That the “we can’t go all the way cause our coach teaches Sunday school and BooBoo haz a crayon” group would rule and we would stumble around like a toothless mountaineer dressed in red and black. How close did we come to that?

I do believe Nutt is a sheister that wanted the Springfield players on his Arkansas team but he never believed in Malzahn’s “high school offense.” However, look at how Malzahn turned out. He figured out Nutt was a sheister, so he left and started over at Tulsa. After a couple of years he left there and went to Auburn, and look at him now. Mustain started over at USC, but unlike Malzahn he didn’t show out. There’s no allegation that USC didn’t treat him fairly or didn’t give him a chance. There are plenty of QB’s that have had to transfer and have gone on to success in their new schools, but there is no guarantee of success and this lady refuses to accept this.

I guess it kinda hard for a Mother to take blame for mishandling her sons future. Or to give up on a son? Kid was talented. My bride is the brightest and most talented woman I’ve ever met. Yet I still had to reign her in at some soccer games while the boys were young. What is it about soccer moms anyway?

Damn I guess DIF is still baby sitting. Don’t blame him. I’ll play back up qb and post the youtube vids for him. 😉 4 more weeks in this cast and then a walking boot. I’m grounded at this cabin in Oglethorpe with three dogs and a golf cart to drive to the lake. There are only so many fish you care to catch. Hell I could deer hunt from the back porch it I wanted. Bucks are finally out of their velvet. I miss work.
