After getting run over front, back and sideways by Arkansas, Texas Tech fires its defensive coordinator.
It’s Bert’s first scalp at Arky.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
I think that program has a ceiling of about 3rd or 4th in the West. But they can make life miserable for people. He is going to build that team a la Nutt: get in a phone booth and bang away.

Notwithstanding the DC getting Bielema’d by Bert and then by Kliff, back in happier days, the Texas Tech Family was a fun-loving bunch. However, this week’s entertainment will take place in the electrical closet, aiight

I hope that game doesn’t foreshadow our experience in Little Rock next month.

I texted my buddies on Sunday after I watched the Ark-TTU game (I had recorded it), that games scares the bejeezus out of me. I’ve watched all 3 of Arkansas’ games and I’m telling you, they are better than people think. And that offense is VERY physical, I genuinely worry about our D matching up with them. You can scheme all you want, but eventually your big uglies have to line up and beat the man across the LOS from them, and Arkansas is tough. Their defense is still a bit of a dumpster fire, but it may be one of those games where we have to score every time we get the ball, because that offense of theirs will grind the clock and keep the ball away from us, limiting our opportunities. They doubled up TTU in time of possession.

It might help us that they play Alabama the week before us. Usually teams are still beat to shit the week after Bama. Thankfully we have a bye after that game. Agree wih everyone, it will be very physical.

I didn’t realize they play Bama the week before. That actually does make me feel a little better about that game!

They look like Wisky South, must have brought some of those road-grading OL guys down from cheese country and put some SEC tough RBs behind them. I have dreamed of that combination before, just glad they aren’t that good at running an Air Raid passing attack instead. It will be tough but we might be able to slug it out with them up front. We will need to put our big boy pants up that day because you are right, it is physical, trench warfare for 3+ hours.

Perhaps Pat Dye can issue another “man enough” challenge, this time to our front seven on D.

Trying to shake his golden boy rep as a former member of Maroon 5, Kliff Kingsbury wanted to gain some tough guy points by firing someone.

Since Mike Smith was co-defensive coordinator how come he wasn’t co-fired? Instead he gets promoted to sole defensive coordinator. TT logic. A lot like GT logic.

Mike Smith didn’t come to practice high, so he had that goin for him.

I guess Matt Wallerstedt was trying to stop the passing game Bielma is known for.

sounds like it’s more than just the performance last saturday:

although giving up 499 yds on defense may have had something to do with that..

I mean, who hasn’t shown up to work drunk after giving up 499 yards of offense to Arky?
Seriously tho, I hope he gets the help he needs. A college assistant coach is high stress. In fact I’m kinda surprised Bobo didn’t show up half in the bag on Sunday muttering something about HB right to Gurley.

We go between 270 – 290 on the interior DL and 230 – 250 on the ends.
We will need to get much better against the run before we go there.
