Over the top

Considering that every fan base has its share of unbalanced folks – and Georgia’s is no exception (Remember egging Aaron Murray’s house?  Good times.) – it’s still disappointing to see people lose it over a player suspension like this:

The wife of a Lindale man also named Bryan Allen told the Rome News Tribune that she was inundated by calls of people trying to reach the other man by that name

“They’ve been threatening my life and my husband’s,” she said. “They threatened to burn down my house, and I don’t even completely understand what this is all about. One of the calls said that my husband was a snitch for ratting out some guy named Gurley. I don’t even know who that is.”

Sigh.

I’m guessing the guilty Bryan Allen doesn’t live here anymore.  And probably has a few regrets about his tactics.

Really hoped at first that you’d linked an Onion article for a good joke. Oh well. Some dumb folks in this world.

I seriously doubt the guilty Bryan Allen is smart enough and/or has enough self awareness to regret his tactics beyond being scared he may get in some kind of trouble now.

He doesn’t strike me as the kind of person who connects the dots back to himself.

To actually pick up a phone and threaten to burn someone’s house down over college athletics…?!! Harvey Updike’s act pales in comparison.

  4. While I wholeheartedly agree that death threats are uncalled for, I do think the “real” Bryan Allen fully deserves the Harvey Updyke treatment. Frankly, I think Allen’s actions are more egregious than plant vandalism. If he finds himself no longer welcome in Georgia, he’s in that position for good reason.

Hopefully where ever he goes, someone will have no problem letting the world know where he is. I mean, he had no problem trying to end Gurley’s college football career.

  6. Assuming he doesn’t have a family to feed, I would be ok if he ended up living under a bridge on I-20 in his UF tank top, jorts, and black Reeboks. Maybe Boom can send him some autographed pictures in the hated blue & orange to decorate his refrigerator box.

    That is just terrible.

I mean…how you could you possibly not know who Todd Gurley is?

I live in the Rome area (very near Lindale actually) and the Rome police issued a warning on their Facebook page on Friday about harassing this man.

    Frightening…

It occurred to me yesterday that he messed with Vegas. Last I checked, that town isn’t run by choirboys.

It’s very unfortunate that there is peripheral damage in a situation like this. I feel bad for the innocent Bryan Allens of the world. It truly would be frightening to be in their situation.

However…. if the real Bryan Allen gets daily calls threatening to burn down his house for the rest of his life, I’m ok with that. Fucker deserves it.

The Arizona kicker got death threats for missing a FG Saturday. Every fan base has it’s whackos, but I want ours the shut the fuck up and don’t harass people that don’t deserve it.

I’d change my name or else move to a distant land. I suppose he could get a job as a professor at GT…he’d be a welcomed.

Yes, but that would require him to join the Taliban and he would never have another face to face relationship with a woman again.

As I was leaving the game this past Saturday, several Missouri fans commented to me how nice all the Georgia fans had been to them throughout the game. I told them, “Thanks, but it’s mostly because our obnoxious redneck fans can’t afford to travel this far.”
