“We both need a win; that’s what it is.”

I love the smell of desperation in the morning.

Two great stats for this game:

  • The 28-21 loss dropped the Razorbacks to 0-9 under Bielema in games decided by fewer than 10 points…

  • And Tennessee and Jones are feeling the pressure that comes after being outscored 49-24 in the fourth quarter and overtime this season — after outscoring opponents 141-50 through the first three quarters.

I’m thinking these guys deserve… oh, I dunno, say about six overtimes on Saturday.  Their heads might explode over it.

  1. I would take 6 OT periods with Tennessee exhausted and spent after another moral victory for Sgt. Carter.

Will be a very physical game regardless, and that is all we can ask for as we have something like that going on too. Not sure if another loss breaks the Vols’ spirit or inflames them. We are better than them but they will come out swinging (prefer that warning to the worn out one.)

      • I would love to see them bludgeoned to a pulp by Arkansas (don’t think it will happen) so that they are just demoralized when we see them Knoxville.

Otherwise, I think the best thing that could happen is fairly uninspired two score win for Tennessee that over-inflates their ego into thinking they are contenders in the East.

The bludgeoning may very well occur. The Hogs are not a very good team but they are physical. I hope the Hogs get it together and beat UT. Can’t do anything but help Georgia if that happens. Sgt. Carter may very well get the ax mid-season. Here’s hoping.

One coach or the other is gonna be ridin’ the lightning when the clock ticks down in Jonestown. UT’s Sgt. Carter will have to go see the Colonel, or UA’s Fred Flintstone will be hearing from Mr. Slate.

    Hunker down, smelly hawgs.

Volnation.com has become my second-favorite rivals’ board to lurk on behind Stingtalk now. It’s like Stingtalk, without the geekily unintentional over-the-top-ness. It’s more like redneckily unintentional over-the-top-ness. In the meantime, at Swampgas, the Florida folk are full of confidence against Ole Miss Saturday.

If you ask me why I’m such a glutton for punishment, this week in particular, it may be because I don’t want to think about the Alabama game too much. I was in the stadium when Spurrier hung half a hundred on us, and the memory still physically pains me.

We need Razorbacks to beat Tennessee, and whoever their other east opponent is.
I prefer a beatdown. I have no issue with Arkansas, and have no love for anything orange.

All other things being equal, if Tennessee gets beat down by Arkansas and all the other teams that ought to beat them, I’d say Butch’s ass would be gone. But then I was reading that it would cost UT $10 MILLION to get rid of him, and they don’t have that kind of money, so I’d say Butch will be there until the end of next season, at least.

That’s exactly the situation that got them where they are. After the collapse began in 2002 they kept giving Fullamerde raises and extensions for his temporary recoveries (2004 and 2007), until it cost them millions to fire him in 2008. Then after 2009 Kiffin split with no buyout, leaving them with maybe the most expensive staff in college football at the time, all holding fat guaranteed contracts. Cutcliffe had taken the job until they told him he’d have to retain some of Kiffin’s staff. So they ended up bottom-feeding with the Louisiana Tech man. Looks like they learned nothing.

Soooooo-eey, Hawgs- run ’em ragged like you did in 2002, while we were in Tuscaloosa. Four OT’s, I think (and they put Clausen out).

Yeah, I gotta pull for Bert in this one. It will make my in-laws happy.

It’s interesting to me that the Vols’ pattern this year is much different than the way they’ve played Georgia over the past two years. Against the Bulldogs, the Vols have been bulldozed in the first halves of the past two games, only to stage furious comebacks in the second halves. Let’s hope that next week we can keep up the habit of stepping on their necks early, and then continue their recent late-game woes as well.

    Of course, first things first…

I am looking for a knock down drag out between the vols and the hawgs this week. That would basically be a perfect scenario. Either way Tenn is going to be very badly bruised by the time we get to town and a 3:30 kickoff so everyone can watch us roll their sorry asses.

I’m wondering how ARK beating UT helps UGA’s strength of schedule. Anyone?

Rumors of Tennessee’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. They only have one conference loss.

Given Bert’s SEC road record at Arkansas, I expect Tennessee to build a lead even Butch can’t blow.

Oh, they’re still dangerous and capable of messing up anybody’s year. But I suspect they’ll have to do it in front of fewer fans, some of whom will have facial tics and other signs of psychological abuse. And we’ll see if they get any less dangerous on the recruiting trail this winter. I think Butch needs to bag one of two from Georgia and Alabama to retain any credibility, and probably both to restore any excitement around the program. Right now they are a groundhog staring at their shadow. We’ll see how they respond in two weeks- as you say, probably not so much against the lowly Hogs.

Bert’s got to be just as desperate as Butch. That will be a fascinating game to watch, if only for the coaches’ body language on the sidelines. (Though Butch’s body language is always entertaining.)

The Vowels need this win to go to a bowl IMHO. Look at their schedule. Without beating Arky UT is likely 5-7. I’m hoping they lose.

They’ll make it easily, barring some kind of catastrophic internal collapse. The Viles always have a tough “Red” October, and a nice, soft November. South Carolina’s and Missouri’s 2015 busts will cushion the blow.

DiF, did you called up for TDY? No pictures. Does that mean we have to read and comprehend all this falderal? Same goes for you, AHD.
