Understatement of the month

Greyson Lambert, on the 2015 season:  “I came here not expecting this.”

In your defense, Greyson, I don’t think anybody did.

It’s going to be interesting. Spring practice should be quite a show. I really doubt we’ll see a starter named until August, at least…and it may be a fluid situation during the season..as last year was. Let’s just hope the “fluid” doesn’t all run down hill like last year.
This will be a big task and test for the new staff.
Then, again, KS might just come out and name a starter for any reason he deems solid. He may say, “I don’t think a true freshman is ready”, or, “after reviewing last year’s film, I think it’s time to go in a new direction”.

I’m still at a loss as to what Shotty and or CMR saw in him and how he ended up at UGA.

well, CMR probably watched Ramsey and Bauta for several years and determined that they weren’t good enough.

That, or McGarity made him do it.

I think it’s they looked at the QBs that they had and decided they needed to bring someone in. He was the best transfer they could get.

    • I think they saw a 6’5″ 220-pound QB that hadn’t received very good coaching and didn’t have a good supporting cast. The bigger question is how did he win the job over 2 guys (+ Park) who had been in the program for multiple years. I still think Bobo would have started Ramsey, and I think Richt trusted Schotty’s judgment a little too much in this case.

It was more about what they saw in the spring in Athens.

I think if Lambert had looked more confident we would have liked him more – I think a lot of our dislike for the kid was psychological. Even his name sounds like a dandy.

He threw very, very few interceptions in a year when the OL and the receiving corps were possibly the worst in five years. Actually, taken together, I wonder if this was the worst aggregate OL + receiving corps of CMR’s tenure.

Throw in CBS’ troubles making the transition and I think Lambert probably did okay.

Let’s see what Coach Chaney can do with Greyson’s footwork and mechanics in the off season. Greyson is far ahead of where Nathan Peterman was in 2014. Looking at Peterman’s stats in 2015 gives us confidence Chaney has the track record to help Greyson continue his improvement.

Greyson will play a key role in the success of the team regardless of how quickly Eason can adjust to the speed of the SEC.

  5. After reading the article I am a little concerned that this family football pool may have violated the rules. I think the ethical thing to do would be inform the NCAA so they can look into it and just to be safe hold Lambert out of all games this year and next so we don’t risk playing an ineligible player.

I think had Bobo still been here he would have tagged Ramsey after the bowl and built him into a starting QB. He had already been tabbed by him as next in line. I hope Chaney is a good QB coach. He seems to be and he knows how to take a raw kid and build him up and play to his strengths. Schotty, hell I am not sure what happened there. I am also not sure trying to get everyone lighter this last off season helped very much. the O-line got tossed around a good bit. I am looking forward to having some road graders under Pittman and I have the patience to wait for him to get his guys where he wants them.

“That gave you an added incentive to watch some of the smaller ones (bowls).”

I think he should have played the 2nd half versus FL.

Congrats, Grayson. You did the impossible. You got Mark Richt fired (with plenty of help from Brian Schottenheimer).
