We’ve been waiting our entire lives for this.

Just when we thought we were out, they pull us back in.

Al Pacino will portray Penn State football coach Joe Paterno in an upcoming HBO biopic.

The film, directed by Barry Levinson, focuses on the sexual assault scandal that rocked the university and tarnished Paterno’s legacy.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume they’re not going to tell the story from the Penn State perspective.  Cue indignant Paterno family comments in 3…2…1…

I’d be suprised if they told it from a strictly honest perspective. “Based on an actual story” can cover a lot of leeway. One way or the other, it will be skewed.

  5. This should go over well. Penn State people are still trying to be the victim in all of this. People talk trash about SEC fans but some of the rationale/justification I’ve read/heard from adult Penn State people is sickening.

+1 When you find yourself defending the actions of State Penn personnel in this situation, you should know you are way over the edge and should never cast stones at anyone. Was sorry to see the NCAA not impose the death penalty in this case, and disgusted to see them back down on the penalties they imposed originally. Paterno and State Penn will never have those victories reinstated in my mind, screw ’em. Lack of institutional control on steroids, or was it truly a case of total institutional control in this case?

I’ll go out on a limb and assume the movie won’t be using Pacino’s famous line “Say hello to my little friend!”
