As someone who believes Georgia’s 2018 home schedule leaves something to be desired, this is an argument I’d ordinarily be prepared to take seriously…
… until I consider the source.
Then I realize he’s just doing a little preemptive field clearing for Nick Saban.
Wake me up when PAWWWLLL!!! launches the same critique ‘Bama’s way. For that matter, Georgia’s cross-division schedule strikes me as a whole lot more credible than Alabama’s does.
Not defending the Conehead, but it was that wealth of knowledge, and former ACC writer, Heather Dinich who he was quoting. She has been hating on the Dawgs for years. She can’t hide her bias.

She’s an ACC shill. That’s her assigned role.

Wisconsins entire schedule was garbage last year. Its not apples and oranges. Bamas OOC schedule was the same as ours this year considering FSU shit the bed the whole season. It didnt hurt them…

I meant to say it IS apples and oranges.

Make it through reg season at 11-1 and win SEC…no different than last year (or pretty much any year for that matter).

Absolutely. If we win the East and beat Bama (likely) in the SECCG there should not be a word said. With wins over Auburn, LSU, Bama, and winning the East, who exactly would have a better resume than a 11-2 or 12-1 UGA? Still want better games, but I don’t fear that performance being questioned by anyone with half a brain (sorry Heather).

There IS something to be said for needing Tech to be about 7-4 when we play them.

It was actually Heather Dinich who make those remarks, not Paul. If you’ll recall, Heather was the same ACC shill who said last year after Clemson’s loss to Syracuse that she still would ranked them above UGA because they had a better resume up to that point.

He invited her on and promoted it.
A simple “that’s bullshit” would have sufficed for me.

I get it, but he put it in quotations with her likeness attached. Our own Mark Schlabach did the same regarding critical comments made towards Smart during his first year, but I never took it as him promoting a vilification of UGA.

Besides, Austin Peay, Samford and UMass won’t exactly win you any OOC cred. Just saying. Sure, she clearly operates from an SEC bias bent that makes even Danny Kannel blush, but it’s not as if she’s wrong.

I feel ya. THat Austin Peay game concerns me. BioMed Supply should advertise during that game. AP shouldn’t be on the field with the level of players we have. Brings whole new meaning to …. gonna be some damage done tonight.

She is an airhead with a bias, but no one can deny the OOC games are especially weak in 2018. Some of this is on McDoofus for being a weeny, some on the fans who continue to support the non-competitive games just to pad the record. But the bigger issue is to view the OOC games in isolation, you have to look at the entirety of the schedule. Programs in the Big 14, PAC 12, etc., need better quality OOC because they face lesser athletes in conference games than SEC teams do. The pounding and wear and tear from SEC quality athletes over a season has to be factored in, no other conference has the depth of athletes SEC teams do. I still support a 9th conference game for the SEC, even if just to take another game away from McDoofus.

Rumblings from the fans base have been heard. Mrs. McGarity is not happy with all the heat her husband receives. You should be paid to take the hit right? So is he underpaid ????
“Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity received a two-year contract extension Thursday that will run through December 2017. McGarity, who was hired in September 2010, is getting a $40,000 raise to bring his annual salary to $500,000 effective July 1. He will receive another raise of $50,000 next summer.” I’m too lazy to look up his current nut But a half mil aint bad.

Schedules don’t look much different to me. Bama plays a neutral site game at the beginning of the year, UGA plays one at the end of October.

They play a halfway decent ACC team and so do we. Otherwise it’s all OOC cupcakes.

Alabama’s out of conference scheduling is routinely pathetic. Yes, they play that one out of conference Power 5 team every year in a “neutral” site. Since 2000 they have played exactly 4 OOC Power 5 teams in a true away game. Meanwhile, in addition to Tech every other year, Georgia has played in Clemson twice, South Bend, Stillwater, Tempe and Boulder. Alabama folks need to shut up when it comes to out of conference scheduling.

Bama gets the slight nod in OOC with two Sunbelts, a SoCon and Louisville who will perhaps be better than Tech this season (but I honestly have no clue). Georgia also adds a C-USA and an independent formerly of the MAC in UMass. However, UGA on the road at LSU trumps Bama hosting Mizzou by a long shot.

Let’s stop talking about the other SEC schools schedules and be only interested in our UGA schedules.I totally agree with “Aladawg’s” comments. As a UGA grad and a season ticket holder since 1974 we have no business playing these three(3 ) cupcakes this season.Maybe one for Homecoming but three(3) are too many.We are being asked to send in (soon)$55/ticket for those games. On the morning of the game which will probably be played at noon those same tickets might sell for $10/ticket at the corner of Lumpkin and Baxter streets. What’s the reaction going to be someday when our ‘strength of schedule” knocks us out of a four team playoff?
