Throwing Gators under the bus

Coach Mullen, I don’t think this is how selling to recruits is supposed to work (h/t):

“Florida got those two 2018 recruits who were highly recruited (Jacob Copeland and Justin Watkins), and they got the two transfers,” Pittman said. “But they were telling me I can compete right away. They were telling me they had a bunch of talented guys who can’t see the field because they don’t have it mentally in the head. Just dudes who can’t get the plays down, concepts, coverages, that stuff. I’m a big guy in the study room. I’ll be in the film room for hours.” [Emphasis added.]

Yeah, that one’s gonna leave a mark on the recruiting trail, methinks.  (Probably on the field this season, too, if accurate.)

I’m sure he’ll be popular in both locker rooms.

It was well known back in the day that Ray Goff could recruit but couldn’t coach (and certainly couldn’t run a big-time program.) Mullen, it seems, might be the opposite, and its been opinied that his assistants aren’t exactly up to snuff recruiting wise either.

Unless something drastic changes, UF will finish somewhere in the mid teens in terms of recruiting ranking, which obviously bodes well for us as we will almost certainly land another top 5 class; perhaps top 2. The talent gap between us and them is starting to become very large.

Amen. Mullen needs to either have a top 25 season or a top 12ish recruiting class to hold the interest of Florida fans. If he doesn’t achieve either of those in year #1, the current grumbling on Florida fan boards will spread and could jeopardize Mullen’s ability to build momentum. Kirby had a mediocre year #1 on the field, but then we saw him sign UGA’s best class ever that finished #3 nationally because he was recruiting his *ss off all year. That is all UGA fans needed to see to stay all-in on the Kirby train before last season got started.

    Shorter Pittman:

“Right now I’m just trying to decide which school’s players suck more.”

Pittman also wasn’t afraid to dismiss existing players at Oregon. Sounds like the kid needs to be taken down a peg or two!

If it’s that bad for the offense, just wait until he meets Coach Grantham’s defense.

They have been practicing the hand waving and expressions of confusion all summer, they should be ok.

He’s waiting a couple of weeks to make his announcement so he can produce his video. I no longer know whether to applaud these kids’ sense of self-branding or cringe at their narcissism.

Really saying they aren’t smart and that they signed with the gators is an Oxymoron.
Maybe Mullen should take one of Fish Fry’s recruit seminars, couldn’t make it any worse.

You know, this kid could turn out to be the next Odell Beckham, Jr. and I’m still okay with him not having UGA in his top 20. . .
