To be clear, I have no source that can say AU is Freeze's top choice. Only that Malzahn, in putting together an offer for Freeze, asked for the waiver. There seems to be better ways to run a football program. /F

You know, the story so long has simply been a case of SEC programs trying to emulate Saban’s success and flopping, for the most part. If the movers and shakers at Auburn are now feeling threatened by both Tuscaloosa and Athens, there’s no telling how crazy those folks might get.

AU football feels like they are entering the same abyss UT did in the early ’00’s, in which the next 7-10 years – maybe longer – will be filled with chaos and overall mediocrity. Hopefully I’m right.

A common and underrated component to both Smart’s and Saban’s success: both men walked in in charge of basically everything.
Auburn is doing an excellent job convincing future coaches to stay away, as if having both Georgia and Alabama on the schedule wasn’t deterrent enough.

Given the size of Gus’s buyout, they are going to have to save every penny they can to pay him. Maybe they are trying to use every mechanism to get him to take another job, so they don’t have to pay him.
Who would want to go work in that environment at this point?

That was my thought. I would think they would want Freeze on staff now so that they could promote him to HC when they shitcan Gus after next season. Freeze has already shown that he is willing to cheat and that he can beat Alabama. Those are the two qualities Auburn looks for in a coach.

Expect the whining to move the Georgia game to earlier in the season and to move to the East to increase. Needless to say, cheating in recruiting is going to pick up. Mr. Freeze might even bring in some new ho talent if they can hire him. I wish we could trade them straight up to the ACC for Clemson.
