Everything about this federal prosecution is a farce.

Greg Sankey calls the reinstatement of LSU basketball coach Will Wade a "chapter" in the story of college basketball's ongoing narrative of corruption in the sport. With the federal trial beginning today, Sankey says, "We'll see how this whole story concludes."

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
It’s shame cause that was a good LSU basketball team they had. Can’t say that for fucking flop ass mess our basketball program is

An interesting chapter. Coach is credibly accused of paying players, AD responds with standard suspension… AD is fired and coach reinstated. Not how these stories went even 10 years ago. Alleva had a lot of problems, but the timing of the whole thing makes it appear the Wade issue was at least the last straw.
My hot take: Fans don’t care about what the NCAA considers cheating. Maybe amateurism dies not with a bang, but with a whimper.

They don’t care if “cheating” happens at their team, but they do if it happens at their rival’s team.

But only if they lose to said rival.

Exactly, have ratings declined since COA stipends were implemented? Nope. No fan cares about amateurism it’s just that a lot of fans have yet to realize that about themselves.

I agree. Very good point on this. And to add to that since the COA stipends were implemented there have been less concerns about it so yeah but there’s changes coming you bank on that

By my count, they got Pitino, his staff, two assistants at Auburn, and probably Avenatti.
Hardly enough to clean up the sport.
