Some of you guys are just gonna love this.
King is a senior, so if he graduates, he can transfer where he wants without having to sit.
Looks like Oklahoma may have their quarterback for next season. Too bad for Houston now, though.

UPDATE #2: Aaaand… the law of unintended consequences.

UPDATE #3: One last chance for Holgo?

UPDATE #4: Welp, here’s a turn of events I didn’t see coming:
Of course, there’s nothing stopping them from changing their minds later.
Jalen Hurts needed this advice….
I wonder if Houston will decide to scrutinize his transcript and/or his future grades….
“Oh you thought you were gonna graduate!! Funny thing about that….”

Heisman leader, going to make massive endorsement bank the moment he can because of his off field story as much as his on field success, probably going to lead his team into the playoffs.
Yeah, stupid kid just didn’t know what was best for him.

This kid was getting his ass handed to him on every play. One of the worst OLs in football, very few skill guys to spread the load. Holgorsen had no answers to protect him. At his size, it was a only a matter of time before he got hurt badly. That said, I’m sure some of his teammates aren’t thrilled with the decision.

I bet most of his teammates are totally fine with this. They all understand what the stakes are.

I said some. He’s their best player and some will not be happy with him making the decision to leave the team. Some will be fine with it, and it’s his cross to bear anyway.

I bet most of his teammates aren’t fine with this. The Clemson guys seemed to be ok with Bryant because he wasn’t going to be starting for the remainder of the season and likely would have ended his opportunity to play professionally. I imagine a lot of the UH players are thinking, “Damn, you’re quitting because the team isn’t playing well.”

In that case let’s refer to him as Steve Spurrier

You know, the schools could wrestle some of the power back if these guys could profit from their own likeness.

Soooo……..now we have the ultimate use of the portal/graduate transfer rule and the new redshirt rules in combination. Lose 3 out of the first 4 games (or lose them all, as the case may be) and take a redshirt year after that and transfer. No “stick it out through tough times” or “fight through adversity” or anything like that. The doctrine of unintended consequences has now reared its ugly head in NCAA football. The NCAA needs to look at this HARD. I can see where a normally good team starts out having a losing year and damn near the whole team redshirts and transfers. It wouldn’t surprise me if the entire UT roster pulled this.

Didn’t Kelly Bryant do this as a reaction to losing the starting job to Goldilocks? If Dabo had allowed Bryant to start game 5 (and therefore taken away the ability to redshirt and graduate transfer), would anyone else be considering this type of transfer arrangement?

Why do you think we didn’t see any Zeus last week? Herrien needs to think he’s at least 2nd string until week 5 is over.

I haven’t thought about that other than the fact that he is announced with the starters just like Chubb/Michel and Swift/Holyfield.
I think Zeus, McIntosh, and Cook didn’t see any playing time at the traditional running back position because Kirby and McGee shortened the bench for this game.
Lots of guys see the ball at running back typically. There’s only one QB.

Damn. Hate to see this. I like watching Houston play, but they’ve struggled this season with the transition. BTW, this is the kid that kept Florida’s starting QB on the bench his entire high school career. (Funny to me he wasn’t good enough to start in HS, yet he’s now the savior for Mullen.)

Probably gonna see a batch of head coaches in the ‘portal’ soon too.

Who said free agency would never come to college football? Soon enough there will be appeals for immediate eligibility mid-season after 4 games.

Time for coaches and schools to step up if scholarships don’t cost them. Only about 4 schools in the US besides the service academies sign a 4 year deal with the kid. Coaches need to dance with who they bring to the dance. Grey shirt be damned. 5 year scholarship to play 4.They sign they there. NFL is a major problem, like it’s not with basketball look at Kansas and before it’s over and UNC and Duke won’t be able to put on choir robes either.
2% will hang on in the pros ask Hollifield and Nauta.
