Hey, we could waste our time arguing about politics, or we can focus on something that really matters today.
A mini-buffet to get the ball rolling here:
- “We don’t even talk about signing day anymore, we’re so December-driven,” Fleck, already focused on who might play in Minneapolis in 2021 and beyond…
- Here’s Marc Weiszer’s Georgia-centric preview of what’s coming.
- Kipp Adams explains what goes into Sports247 recruiting ratings. (h/t Nick)
The floor is now yours. Share your hopes, dreams, fears, disappointments, mockery of Dan Mullen’s recruiting prowess and whatever else in the comments.
I posted this in another thread, but I hope someone will post the message board thread where Gator fans realize Mullen can’t recruit at the level Kirby does.

In one of the biggest surprises of the day, three-star cornerback Ennis Rakestraw picked Missouri over Texas and Alabama.
Will the Gator message boards start lighting up that |Alabama (and UGA) is now falling behind FU since they can not beat out Missouri for a 3 star? Does this signal total failure for Alabama because Rakestraw went elsewhere. Has FU now ascended to the throne?

The best marketing is winning, and winning means a complete roster. Which is why all these super elite guys end up at just a few destinations. A guy like Ed Oliver would have been a household name at Georgia. All he did at Houston was sit out half his final season (what is it about Houston?) and get into a sideline fight with his coach over a jacket.
Kudos to Kirby for making Georgia a top destination.

The Super Bowl is another lesson on the value of a mobile quarterback and an offense who can improvise when given the green light to do so.
Ten points down and throwing a second INT heading into the 4th quarter, how would Georgia have handled that situation?
Given the changes after the bowl game, how will Georgia handle it this year?

It appears that Kirby has heeded the call to move to (at least a little) more wide open offense. Being too risk averse is just as bad as being reckless. Somewhere in there is a happy medium. With what this defense is projected to be, we do not need to look like Mike Leach team. We just need something a little more akin to modern football but with a heavy dose of RBU still administered to the other team as needed. There is more than one way to impose your will.

Just show me a bit of innovation and ability to adapt better to the pieces that are in place. I really hope we are just a few tweaks away from getting back into form. Obviously the backup QBR after spring practice will tell all.

Yes, it is frustrating when your offense goes stagnant and you have no answer to pull yourself out of the rut. I’m hopeful as well that slight adjustments makes for big improvements.

Offenses have learned they can neutralize Georgia’s talent depth by reducing opportunities for defensive substitution. Fatigue does not appear to be a concern as Georgia’s slow, deliberate offense offers ample recovery time for the next drive.
Assuming a faster pace from Georgia’s offense, what defensive changes do you want to see from Lanning?
LikeLike
If the pace picks up, you need the depth to rotate in a 2nd string without drop off when the 1st string needs to catch their breath.
LSU’s D was viewed as a liability for much of the year but in the last 1/3rd of the season the running game picked up and drives went from ~2minutes to a more normal 3:30 to 4:30. LSU’s D allowed fewer points per game.
It isn’t just winning time of possession but doing it such a way that the defense defends fewer possessions and has time to catch their breath. I look for UGA’s offense to speed up but not to warp speed. We shall see.
LikeLike
“Changes” is a bit much, but I want to see more development of the Havoc rate push that started last year. The D’s got athletes in the front 7, but the TFL and sack numbers have yet to match the disruption potential. Throw in another year of experience for several of the young talented DBs, and hopefully we see that on the field this season.

So now our recruiting expectations are a top 3 class at minimum and going head to head with Bama annually for number 1. We are living in the times we always wanted as Bulldogs. Lets enjoy it and not pick it to death.

Well, it helps if you want to be up on the breaking news regarding Georgia, not having to ask around for clarification. Stuff like that. As for twitter, yeah, it’s a cesspool, but people also choose to partake in that cesspool. Your timeline is what you make of it. If all you want to do is follow sports news, for example, you only need to follow Seth, Chip. Schultz, Radi, Weizser, DOB, and Jason Butt, and there’s all the coverage you need for the Dawgs, Braves, Falcons, Hawks, and Atlanta sports. If you want wider coverage for CFB, Andy Staples and Barrett Sallee are great follows.

Just ran across this on Rivals. I realize that it is next years class…but
Aaron McLaughlin is back on the market.
The four-star quarterback out of Alpharetta (Ga.) Denmark decommitted from Auburn. He recently added an offer from Miami and the Hurricanes are on his radar. The 6-foot-5, 205 pound signal caller in the 2021 class committed to Auburn in July.
Any time something happens that sticks a knife in Auburn it’s news worthy. Another empty seat on the Gus Bus.

I get what you’re saying and I like your fire… but a QB “Decommitting” a year out isn’t exactly sticking a knife. This smells of “new offensive coordinator isn’t blowing up my phone” or is blowing smoke up someone else’s skirt etc.

Hahahahaha! Just kidding! There are few things that bring me more joy than mocking Cousin Eddie and the Floriduh fans that honestly, truly believe he’s the superior coach to Kirby, because, “Kirby is a moron.” It’s true. They say that all the time on their boards and twitter.
I just can’t wait to hear what kind of idiocy Sideshow Dan will say this spring about the Dawgs that Kirby will then use to help keep our winning streak going against the ‘turds!

I love harassing UF fans as much as anyone but am I missing something here? Dawgs247 has the gators listed at #8, ahead of UT #14. SC beat us with players of class ranks of #21, #18 and #17. I’m not ready to dismiss the talent level of players ranked in the top 10. Just saying.
Now back to poking fun at Dan…

About the only really high level drama remaining is:
1. Does Burch eventually sign with SCar or does he flip?
2. Do the last 2 OL commits sign with the Dawgs?
3. Does Zach Evans commit to any school, and does it stick this time?
Anything I’m missing?

You’ve got it, other than the unexpected last minute flip that always surprises people, like Pickens last year. I just hope it continues to be a flip our way, instead of away from us.

You just screwed over 200 Dawg fans who want to obsess over that potential 4* that got away. There goes the disgruntlement grounds they were seeking just because of your selfish brevity. And you just combined their drama into a no-name reference to “2 OL” as if their religious affiliation and girlfriend’s father’s preference for that future son-in-law don’t count at this big drama highlight signing time. If you keep up with that kind of shit, the entire class will think it’s time to go somewhere else – and it’s all your fault!
Did they sign while I was posting? Huh? Huh?

Jones signing is a big relief. Dude could start as a freshman potentially, and unlike VPG, he wasn’t waiting because it was HS tradition, so there was some worry he might not stick.
But considering my dumb ass was worried about this class back in December, perhaps I should worry a bit less w/r/t recruiting…

I’ve been waiting for a playpen to post this, because I needed to get it off my chest. The owner of the radon mitigation company we hired here in Nashville has been dicking around with us for 3 months now and the owner was at my house last Friday wearing a UT sweat shirt (which I’d suspected all along) and I swear to god the dude looked just like Kiffin. I couldn’t stand looking the Mf’r as he mansplained to my wife why his company is so great, meanwhile failing for 3 months at lowering the levels. I just kept thinking, get the fuck outta my house Lane Kiffin. Anyway, fuck UT, fuck anything orange, fuck Kiffin, and fuck Tennessee Radon.

Since Kiffen sucks the air out of the room, can’t you attach him to the radon vacuum and get something positive accomplished? Win-win after he sucks a lung full.

I typed a nice long rant about Radon and home inspectors that had a lot of foul language and a vignette about a father-son inspection team with degrees from tech that issued me (technically my buyer) a 110 page inspection report that included paint imperfections but somehow failed to notice that the deck joists 15′ off the ground were temporarily nailed and were in real danger of failing without permanent support. This dynamic duo also added that the dishwasher was non functioning because “They couldn’t get it to come on” so apparently “push the green button” did not compute. I deleted it. Anyhoo for brevity I’ll just say this:
Radon is a scam.
Not a fan home of inspectors.

We’re in the middle of mitigating the radon in our new-to-us home in middle TN and I think (hope) the company is going to get the job done. In fact the job is done (the after mitigation tested levels avg 2.3… so that’s good) but the fan is so loud we’re working on noise mitigation now. 😉 They’re coming back next week to try to fix that. Anyway, they work all over Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga and everywhere in between if you need them: Radon1.
