Interestingly enough, al.com has a piece on how the Newman/Daniels battle to be Georgia’s starting quarterback shapes, based on the opinion of outside observers.
You can read it here.

Why is it interesting??
I thought it was a decent article.

It was decent. It came from a non-Georgia site. I find that interesting. To each his own. 😉

Nothing earth shattering here for the 2020 season (?), let Mr. Ron Courson speak….Kirbs doesn’t need Mr. Daniels this season to compete for the qb position….now next season is shaping to be a QB competition (G-Day QBR be damned) with the fall out being 1-2 transfers from the qb room…

I agree with you. The big question for me about Daniels is his health and I’ve yet to see anyone make a definitive statement that he’s fully recovered.

Since you’ve got “Hello Newman” in your back pocket, there is no need to comment (period), other than the qb’s already on the practice field…

Gotcha, it can be a homer site sometimes….but it is under “Southeastern Conference Sports”.
I guess they have to write about something.
Just happy that we have the talent we do at the QB position this year. Thinks the ‘D will have to carry us early.

I think it comes down to the ACL injury Daniels is coming back from that is the difference maker along with Newman’s experience.
Daniels will make a fine back-up this season, and next he can compete with Mathis, Beck, and BVG for the QB1 slot.

“Very talented,” that longtime college personnel man said of Daniels. “Think he runs away with that job over Newman.”
Wow, that’s a heckuva statement. I don’t agree, but it would appear we have a couple very talented QBs on our hands. I think Newman takes the job hands down. Sanders would have to be an unusually gifted QB to beat Newman.

Got to hype the backup. Its both the Georgia way and college way.

I had never heard of JT until Kirby pursued him. I am a little skeptical – 10 interceptions with 14 TDs is a little plebeian for me to get too excited – because, well, a lot of QBs have stats like that. Newman’s stats weren’t all that great either, but he was playing for Wake Forest. Presumably JT had a better supporting cast at the real USC; all we can do is hope Kirby and Todd get it right.

When I see JT actually run 40 yards it will be a start to some sort of evaluation.

Well that was nice to read. I wasn’t as sold on Daniels yet (late entry, still recovering from injury) but it sounds like he can be the real deal. I still see Newman taking it this year, though.

I said it last week. If Daniels is healthy hands down its Daniels. He’s the better passer. Plus he could be a three year starter.

For What it’s Worth:
QB controversy, Probst gets Garcia to Valdosta from Cali because high school football has been pushed to spring on the left coast. There must be something in the water down there. Just sayin’
