Damn, what a quote from Seth’s piece yesterday on George Pickens ($$):

“Last year I was just running the route that they told me,” Pickens said. “But this year I know a lot of the little things that (Coach Monken) has seen from the teams that he’s been with, like the Browns, with Odell (Beckham) and Jarvis Landry. Tools that he took from those guys and is showing me. So it helps me every day.”

I actually thought his route running improved significantly in the second half of last season, but if he thinks Monken’s teaching him new tricks in that department, who am I to argue?

If he can refrain from mushing players against end zone walls he should be a real comfort to whichever quarterback we have in there. I’m really looking forward to watching him the next two years.

Now we know why there was often little separation with the receivers last year. All a DB had to do was jam the route and our guys would not break off into open space because orders?

Should George learn how to enhance his Gawd given ability to place a bug into a wall with little more stealthiness, I’m good with progress…..

Gives credence to the thought some people have that Hankton is ones of those who is a good recruiter but not a good coach if Monken’s coming in and teaching receivers how to play the position.

Not sure if I buy into it 100% even if I’ve had some of those thoughts watching Landers and a few others with obvious talent flail around the last couple of years, but it definitely lends credence to it.

Not sure why there isn’t more buzz in this post. This is exciting to me, not something that our offensive players or staff has given away in a couple years. Kind of shows how generational Chubb and Michel were, Fromm or not.
