Jamie, we hardly knew ye.

Somehow, I don’t think that’s what he’ll be wearing in that game.

He should wear a UGA uniform and never let a ball hit the ground.

That would put a nice bow on things.

I guess his concerns about playing during the COVID-19 pandemic have lessened now that (checks notes) the virus is surging at record high levels throughout the country including Mobile, where the game will be played.

Cases are up because there is more testing – far more.

“Scientists and heath experts have pointed out that testing a larger population for the virus reveals a larger number of infections, some of which might otherwise go undetected. It doesn’t increase the number of illnesses, just the number of reported cases.”

Hospital systems in North Dakota and Iowa are reportedly at capacity. Guess they should stop testing.

Context – you are missing the context. Cases and illness are different.

Spur, I think you’re missing the context. I agree with you cases by themselves don’t necessarily mean anything if most people are asymptomatic. But when hospitals are reaching capacity (again), then it’s not just “more testing”.

BTW, any word on Pittman? I want him on the sideline in Gainesville this weekend.

… both are increasing. And not really sure why you’re grinding the axe here – my point is that it was bullshit that he was too scared of COVID 19 to play but all of a sudden he’s fine with playing in the Senior Bowl because clearly by whatever metric you choose the COVID 19 pandemic is once again getting worse, not better.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I won’t wish injury on him, but I’ll be rooting against his career. Hopefully he goes undrafted because his decision exposed how selfish and weak he is to NFL teams. Plus, he won’t have played live football for close to two years if he gets drafted. That’s a major risk.

    • I don’t wish him ill. He’s in college listening to “experts” tell him that he has a 175% chance of dying and/or killing his grandmother if he goes outside within the next three years. Lots of reasonable people believed lots of unreasonable claims about C19.

Send Herschel to the locker room to be sure he doesn’t dare don the Red & Black.

Whatever uniform he wears needs a six inch wide yellow stripe down the middle of his back.

  10. I mean it was a business decision, one I get given this year. My issue was the lateness of it. Depending on his work ethic, he can get a lot of specific training right now and not get hurt. The NFL says they place value on leadership and teamwork, yada yada, but then they go ahead and draft the biggest jack legs around, ever heard of Jamies Winston? without even thinking? But he will need to light up the combine.

Tell me how Miami, Arkansas, Mississippi State could keep their 5th senior QB’s and UGA could not keep theirs? Something strange going on.

Remember when people were saying he left because Mathis/Bennett were beating him out? Fun times.

Newman reminds me a lot of Jalen Hurts in terms of his game – better downfield vision and accuracy than Hurts, though.

On the flip side, Hurts is world class as a human being and locker room presence. Not saying Newman isn’t, but Hurts impressed the hell out of NFL guys with the way he handled his early success and spotlight, followed by the subsequent adversity. Total team player, incredibly mature.

Long story short: Newman is not going to get glowing reviews from the Wake staff or Georgia’s on that front. He’s better be the real deal in physical workouts and be ready for some hard questions in interviews.

But if he shows up in top shape and slings it in workouts, NFL types will look past a lot of faults.

QB’s who left us with our dicks swinging in the wind in order of fuckery:

    Jamie Newton
    Justin Fields
    Jake Fromm
(Received a $600k signing bonus. Stands to make $3.6 million over the course of his 4 year contract. Arguably could have made more. He’s currently the 3rd string “Covid-QB” and will most likely never see the field in a meaningful NFL game.)
