In case you were wondering…

Let’s get the important shit out of the way first.

It’s the first time I can legitimately say a quarterback carried his team to a win during the Smart era.  Welcome to the new world, Kirbs.

Such a strange game in such a strange year. Dare I have hope after that shitshow?

Kirbs got a full bodied baptism last night and should come out of it born again. Sometimes the universe will put you in situations that will make you wake the f up! I hope it took!

The defense was terrible and we ended up in a boat race, and you know what? We finally had a passing game to win the boat race!

I know Kirby hates “boat race football,” but you have to have a team (aka a passing attack) capable of winning those games (and you can’t play manball all year and then try the boat race passing during the one game you need it). Hopefully he absorbs last night’s lesson.

The way we continue to pound the rock (not) on first downs in the second half reminded me of the Jim Chaney era. I am not sure Kirby agrees with your conclusion.

I was yelling at my TV every time we ran the ball in the second half. Unbelievably stubborn playcalling last night that nearly cost us the game.

Always hope, hope for this team to find it’s identity. But my guess is, it will take some time…..”next year”.

Watching games with more of a curiosity now, seems to work better for me. Remaining games this will be a fight, like yesterday….as Russ mentioned yesterday.

  7. That final TD sequence of 2 dropped TD passes, penalty against us on a saving catch, then heaving a 40 yard strike was just bizarre. It may become legendary if JT can lead us to the SEC Championship next year. Not making predictions, but just bookmarking that as a moment that might have pulled the pieces together for the players and coaches.

He made some excellent throws. Anytime you put up 400 yards of offense with 4 TDs you are doing something right.

If we get BV the QB room will finally have some competence for once in what seems like years. Having Beck, Daniels, and BV will make for a good Spring QB competition.

Imagine throwing 3 TD passes to get one. That’s when I knew we had a gun slinger. He really should grow the mustache back.

We’ve got us a QB boys! Confident, heady, strong armed….skys the limit!

  11. I’m almost shocked that he didn’t give us a “competition is still open”. Bennett sure knows it’s over with his fat dip in on the sideline.

Looking for improvement, I’d like to see Daniels not take bad sacks by holding the ball so long. On his first or second sack MSU blitzed 3 LBs that we picked up well enough that he could have gotten rid of the ball. What impressed me most was how he looked comfortable in the pocket early and often, even in the face of endless blitzes.

In a way I feel bad for Bennett. He lives and breathes UGA and truly wanted to help his team. I do not blame him for some of his bad throws. He was doing the best he could with the skills he has. He was 2-2 as a starter. I will always thank him for Aubarn & Rocky flop. DGD and always will be. Please, no more rips at the “Mailman”.

I didn’t see or hear Kirby say: “yeah, it’s fair to assume that” so if he said it good natured, I apologize. But if he said it in his usual smart ass way, he needs to cut that shit out. JT and Monken saved his bacon and he has some work to do with the defense.

Seemed odd that in the 4th quarter one of the announcers kept asking why Georgia would keep running into a brick wall time after time trying to run the ball. My first thought was the reason was standing over there on the sideline.

James Cook up the middle is painful to watch. For a single drive late we found the toss sweep that was stopped only by a holding penalty never to be used again.
Kirby was saved by a deep passing game and a QB capable of making those throws regularly. This I hope was the tipping point for Kirby to embrace the forward pass. Now Monken needs to stay he clearly can get playmakers open.
