I know that some of you insist on tempering my early enthusiasm for what JT Daniels has brought to the table, and honestly, I don’t blame you. That being said, allow me to retort.
It’s the same route. The same receivers. Similar protection. Similar separation in the secondary.
The difference is, whether it’s a matter of knowing when to throw it, or whether it’s more about general accuracy, only one of those two quarterbacks manages to place the ball where a receiver has a chance to make a play. Small sample size, shmall sample size, that matters.
Get The Picture 
In 2021, our WRs could suddenly become a strength, if we have a QB who can see the open ones and accurately deliver the ball. Pass the Kool Aid, Senator, it looks delicious! 🙂

Both the examples of JTD passing appears to be more inept DB than accuracy on Daniels’ part. I’m not arguing that he isn’t the Dawg’s best hope at QB. Simply that there are much better examples of his ability.

In those examples the Bama and UF DBs were overthrown just as the UGA receiver. I can’t be sure but I’d posit that the Bama DBs would’ve picked those two underthrown Daniels balls.

Agree. Those under throws are disconcerting because it suggests a weakness that can be exploited. If you can get the DB to understand that even though the receiver has a step, on the deep throw turn your head and the ball may be right in your lap What have you got to lose? You’re already beat, let the other guy make the mistake.

Right but as Russ points out above, those aren’t the best examples of good throws by JT, they were just the ones used to make the point. JT has shown he can throw in stride, amongst other attributes that the other QBs didn’t seem to have.

I’m cautiously optimistic that JTD is gonna light Mizzou up Saturday afternoon. I’m very optimistic about next year. Give the young man time to jell with his receivers and regain confidence in his knee? Dawgs are in there, man. There are times that he looked as good as anyone playing QB.

It’s not just that JTD has a small sample size but it’s also that the sample is against sub par competition. I will concede that stetson and Jake fromm last year still couldn’t connect on big plays against sub par competition but that’s not a very high bar.
As others have mentioned it looks like the biggest difference between bennett and Daniels is the former overthrew wide open receivers while the latter underthrows them but at least gives them a chance to make a play

I know it’s a common point y’all make, but the reality is that MSU’s pass defense isn’t that bad.
Check out the game log: UGA had a higher passer rating against that defense than ‘Bama or Ole Miss did.

Add to that how little we were able to run and how many of those long completions were on 3rd and distance.
JT was 9 of 10 on 3rd and 6 or longer. 8 of those completions went for a first down or a touchdown.
That’s otherworldly against air.

Seeing that play with Florida 28-21 turns my stomach. If that play hits, along with the pass to our tight end that the TE dropped, we win that damn game. F*ck.

Yeah, I almost stopped watching after seeing us miss a TD to tighten up the Bama score and miss a TD to tie Florida, but then I noticed the next ones were JT so I kept watching.
Overlay good QB performance on those two losses and we could have very well won either or both of them.

I remain in the ‘small sample size’, camp, but clearly, clearly we are better off with JT than with the other options we have at QB. So, I am pulling for him to do well, but my head won’t explode if he has a crappy game.
The first pass they had of JT throwing was under thrown. Burton made the play. Even if he hadn’t been able to make the play, there was a better than average chance to get a PI call. The lesson I am taking from that is that if you’re going to miss, miss under rather than over. But it is still a miss.
Making these throws is a little harder than it looks; you’re not going to get 100%, I don’t care who you are. Jim Donnan once said, extolling the talent of Quincy when he made several completions in a row, “it’s hard to do that against air.”
Be happy for what JT has done so far. Be optimistic as well. But keep it all in perspective.

This is the SEC and we have SEC refs. I’m not saying JT intentionally threw those short but SEC ref always throw the flag if the DB gets in the way of the WR coming back to the ball. Our DB have been burned by this more than I like to remember. If it makes you feel better call it a back shoulder throw.
