It’s a fair one.
You take Georgia and Florida out of the mix in the East and there isn’t much left to be impressed with. If the fifth best team in the West is, say, Ole Miss, is there any team in the East besides the top two you’d place ahead? I mean, maybe Missouri, but not so much that I’d put money on it.
On the plus side, Georgia gets to play all those schools.
Am I the only person who thinks Kentucky will be good again this year? Good defense, strong o-line, and much more dynamic offense with a better QB is a recipe for 9 wins and an upset victory over Floriduh methinks.

Right now, that’s all hypothetical. And who’s the better QB gonna be throwing to?

I’m thinking better is relative, Corch. I do see your point and I remember who ended Murray’s final season.

I’ve got UK penciled in for 6 – 7 wins. That seems to be a safe bet based on past performance. So basically mediocre at best.

They’ll be better than 2020 simply because they’ll have cupcakes to pad the wins total.

I’ve got Missouri ending up with the 7th best record in the conference. Ole Maid loses a ton of offensive production and stinks on defense. Auburn will backslide in the first year of the new staff. I don’t know if they have more than 4 players I’d be interested in for the Dawgs.
That doesn’t necessarily mean Mizzou is the 7th best, but if we’re talking about projected records that’s where I’d have them. Roster-wise, they may be 9th. I like Bazelak though, and think the coaching staff is decent enough to find 7-8 wins.

I can see Mizzou finishing third and possibly second in the east.

That’s a fair assessment, Bluto. Two cupcakes and four teams with new coaching staff comprise half the schedule. Dawgs need to light ’em the fuck up, get a big lead and take the opportunity to get reps for #2 and 3 QB. Keeping in mind that even the sorriest ass team can roll over the #1 QB’s ankle or knee and put a kibosh on the season.
It ain’t all or nothing. But it’d be a scandal and a shame to not take advantage of this historically weak lineup. Dawgrading be damned.

Absolutely. I wont be disappointed if we dont win a NC (well, some, but I never expect it, so not worried). I will be pretty miserable if we dont send SC, UT, Vandy, GT, maybe AU back to the dark ages. I am tired of turtling when we have a lead in the 2nd. We need to work out our team and have fun.

Thaink you so much for the likes. I’ve been tracking this for 20 years but we can actually go ahead of Tennessee in the all time win list in the next few years. the top 10 lists it gets really really hard mathematically to ever change.
I love college for history and I think in the next 2 or 3 years some really significant history is about to be made.

Next SECCG the Dawgs win puts Georgia into solo second behind Bama for all time SEC football championships won. Tied with UT now.

Agree. I have wanted for years to see a Georgia team with a killer instinct. Beat them all soundly and convincingly.
Scorch the earth of their programs and salt their fields.
I long to see Flag Boy waiving a white flag while standing on Side Show’s shoulders for effect.
I want to see Dan asking for Kirby to agree to run the clock non-stop for the second half while Kirby laughs and says “Nope, we’re not hear to take prisoners”
I want to see half of FU’s team enter the transfer portal during halftime.
The same with Tennessee, GT, Vandy (because they dodged us last year) and the squad from Barnopolis.

Oh yes, this.
I want to see the backup QBs throwing because it’s open, not running a dive or inside zone 3x and then punting over and over.

Couldn’t you also have very serious doubts about every team in the East except Alabama and TAMU both of whom will have new QBs? I’m not sure that all the teams in West are better than at least Kentucky or Missouri:
-Auburn has a new coach. They do have an experienced QB (though he has not looked good at times), but they lose a lot on defense and by far their best offensive weapon.
-LSU seems to be on the verge of becoming an off the field train wreck, and they didn’t show a lot last year except against Florida.
-Arkansas looked a lot better all of last year, but not so much elite talent-wise.
-Ole Miss might be good, but they can’t play defense.
-Miss. State might be good, but they weren’t playing offense at the end of last year.
The only difference to me might be that the West doesn’t have a few really bad teams like the East. The middle seems similar to me.

Auburn and LSU both have way more talent than any team in the East except Georgia and Florida… and I’d probably say LSU has more talent than the Gators do.

UK got Nebraska transfer WR who was their best offensive player last 2 years, he set true freshman receiving records and will be a household name this fall, he’s that dynamic They also upgraded their OC with a Shawn MvVay disciple, & possibly Penn State transfer dual threat QB who played in 15 games. Likely can field a good enough squad to knock off FU or LSU at home. They have 7 home games & other than playing us in Athens, they should be favored to win all of their remaining 4 road games.

we have 35 total pts vs UK last 2 years even though their Pass offense was inept/non existent. Although they are no threat to us, if they ratchet up the QB play just enough for 2nd. The East is joke.

I’d say Kentucky and Missouri are decent and should be in that top 7 mix.

The answer is probably yes, just like it was 6-8 years ago. The big difference is that the non Alabama west was “more” better back then and the non-Georgia/Florida east was more worse. Also Alabama had no peer in the East after Meyer left until Smart arrived.
Back then about three West teams could have switched sides and possibly wound up playing for the SEC championship. Now, not so much.

Bud is probably correct but I don’t think there is much difference between say number 4 and number 9. I think that Arky can beat or be beat by KY, MZ, TAMU, FL, AU, OM or whatever shape it takes this year. I think it is GA and Bama at the top, LSU or maybe TAMU at 3, and then the above teams until you get to UT, USC, VU, and MSU at the bottom.
Auburn and LSU are the two teams who I could see either being pretty good or having .500 seasons depending on what happens with the scandal and defense in Baton Rogue and if Harsin can resurrect Nix in Auburn.

I don’t really care much for Auburn…but I think U.K. and Mizzou have a punchers chance against an Ole Miss and/or Auburn…I like how Stoops has quietly built U.K. up as best as one can in Lexington and the little fella out in Columbia may be able to use the portal to patch enough holes to field a scrappy team. I mean we’re all talking about wiener dogs racing each other, not greyhounds so who knows or cares who’s right, we’ll all just laugh as they go at it.

Amen to that…sometimes it’s better for the blood pressure to watch a game in which I have no vested interest in the outcome…have a brown drink, just sit back and enjoy…but if our mid to bottom feeders in the East finish their seasons out well after we beat them, it does bolster our SOS. So we got that going for us

Everyone is counting Auburn out, Auburn does best when they’re expected not to and Auburn has a history of new coaches getting off to a fast start.
On paper yes Auburn doesn’t look good. I don’t give them a chance of winning the west but knocking off A&M, LSU, Bama or UGA on their way to a decent bowl would be a very Auburn thing to do.

UK will be ready. Mizzou will be ok. I’m more worried about UGA. If we play like our hair is on fire, we can beat anybody. However, being a long time Dawg fan, it would not surprise me if we took a game off. It just seems to happen. I thought we were by that until SCU beat us at home and then this year we let UF make us look bad. My Munsoning will not let me have any rest until we beat the heck out of the whole East, not just slip by.

In the last 4 years, I think UGA has 2 east losses….correct me if I’m wrong. IF they continue that, UGA will be fine.
