Tell me, what does it say that Alabama, with the stronger SP+ rating, has less than half the chance Clemson does of going through the regular season undefeated?

Here's the 25 most likely teams to go undefeated this season per pre-season SP+ ratings from @ESPN_BillC.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
that will be a moot point come Sept 4th in the southern Queen City after Smart’s hellfire and brimstone is unleashed

That Saban consistently loses one game a season he shouldn’t lose. The stat is simply reflecting that glaring deficiency in coaching.

Is there ever gonna be a crack in the Saban machine?

Sure, but a big ten side judge was ready to weld it shut.
44-16 vs a true freshman qb was kind of a crack, I think. Unfortunately, we weren’t positioned to take advantage of it after the fact and weren’t able to the job ourselves before hand.
The teams that have beaten bama have gotten great qb play that day. We haven’t had it. We do now tho.

So you’re saying Bo Nix is a great QB?

Absolutely not. But he didn’t throw any picks that day and bamas back up chucked two pick sixes.
Had we gotten two pick sixes in the two championship games we lost to bama I think we’d have been in good shape. But thats just gus’s coachin’. He had the forethought to draw those 14 points up.
How many games has anyone won with two pick sixes? How many of the beneficiaries only win by 3 at home?
Someone has done some work on that: “Since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, teams that return an interception for a touchdown in a game are 1,187-343-3, a winning percentage of 77.5. Teams with multiple interception return TDs in the same game have been virtually unbeatable, now 95-4”
Why don’t you look at the bama losses under saban that ain’t anomalies and ck back in?

That “backup” QB is high on the NFL draft list and won a natty.
Nobody ever said Kevin Steele was a crappy DC.
You’re easy to troll, btw…

He did have a plan to contain Stetson Bennett tho right?
Just because that game was Stet’s best statistically as a starter doesn’t mean that Steele doesn’t deserve the credit for mac jones throwing two pick sixes.

The Kansas City Chiefs threw 4 pick sixes vs Seattle in 1984.
The dc?
Tom Catlin, household name. Legend.
Who no one has heard of?
Anyone on the list of QBs with wins over alabama.
Have you found the average so-so qb performance that beat alabama when they didn’t give up 14 free points on the board?
Is it because I’m right and that pains you to admit?
Its not a very long list of L’s. Espn will give you the stats of each game. Prove me wrong that the most consistent correlation in wins over alabama is qb play on the day the game was played.
Identify some other factor. I’m very sure that you can’t.

I just love this comment so much. Priceless.

Again, I love this. Opponent QB play is only significant against Bama. Doesn’t factor in to other teams chances of winning.

But I didn’t say any of that. Literacy is important. As is common sense. Teams win all the time with modest quarterback play. They don’t beat alabama with it tho.
You can beat a lot of quality teams with a running game, defense and sp teams. Hard to do vs bama because you’re not going to be running the ball without backing their safeties up with the pass.
Those of us who understand football on more than a surface level see what alabama does defensively.
They stone the run with 6, cover with 5 and man up for the most part on the outside.
The path to winning becomes can your wr beat their corner and can your qb put it on them?
Which is why good qbs having good days can beat them and really no one else does unless you get two pick sixes..
Im quite certain there are those dumb enough to think that a Greyson Lambert can beat bama. Stupid allows you to conclude stupid things without evidence.

Your response was surprisingly measured…until the very end. Almost brought it home. Bonus points for the time-honored debate technique of calling others dumb and stupid. That irony – she’s quite thick. Kudos.

the Georgia way reflex for next season…
– we beat Clemson to start the season
– we give Bammer their first loss of the season in the SEC champ game
– only to lose in the Nat champ game to Bama

Or even better: we draw Clemson again in the semi-final, only to lose to Bama in the final. 3-1 in a single season vs. Bama and Clemson with no natty would be the most Georgia thing ever.
