… or do I ditch it in favor of this dude?

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23

I like cannon shot. I see some folks in that picture celebrating their lone three star commitment and saying something to the effect of “The South Carolina will Rise Again!”. So many Cocky fans are closeted Tech fans that I believe I’ll throw in a “fuck those motherfuckers” to boot.
I still hate Tanneyhill.

That is a tough one. I think the second is the best representaion of your average Cock fan though. That would be my choice.

S Carolina fans are the most viciously optimistic bunch of lunatics I’ve ever seen. They’ve never been better than decent, they’re frequently mediocre, sometimes they’re just plain awful. Even the year they won the East, they were a 3 loss regular season team, which is the only time a 3 loss team has won. But their loyal, lunatic fan base always talks big in the spring, is always sure in the summer THIS IS THE YEAR WE MAKE OUR MOVE, and never doubts they’re superior to Clemson and UGA. The lost cause of the Confederacy was an Amazon like success story compared to Chikenball. The dude doing the Dance of the Chiken is just sad; he probably thinks Columbia is the best college town in America, too.
You should probably make a clip of the Black Knight getting carved up in Monty Python and the Holy Grail as the stock reference. Because no matter how much they get skewered, they still cluck loudly about what bad asses they imagine themselves to be.

I don’t disagree but let me tell you a story. My wife’s first game was Tech at BD, early 80’s. We’re driving in from from Stone Mountain and I’m telling her what to expect. I say, “don’t be surprised when you see grown men, in three piece suits, drunk and barking like a dog”. She looked bemused and non too convinced. Until we arrived. My point is, sad is relative. One man’s symphony is another man’s bluegrass. And you, 81, will remember how we all dressed back in the day. Up is the operative word. Girls, too.

You are 100% right that “sad” is somewhat dependant on your perspective. Late 70s and early 80s fashions are, certainly sad and regrettable today.
The Chikendancer may be considered an influencer in Columbiadishu, and it’s possible he was just clowning for his crew (been there, done that). Every fan base has some clowns, including ours. There’s just a weird cockiness to achievement ratio among that fan base that is partly admirable, partly hilarious, and partly delusional. Compared to them, barking UGA fans are British noblemen having high tea at Buckingham Palace. YMMV. 🙂

I couldn’t’ get through the second one. It would have to be made into a gif and sped up 1.5x times to even be slightly tolerable.

I agree, maybe a 2 second clip to merely allude to what we saw here today. And mute the woman squealing for joy (shudders).

Yeah, as heinous as the second video is (kept waiting to be interrupted by something from the @nocontextflair account), continuing to use the first is tempting fate…

Senator, I’m going with tradition on this one and sticking with the first. That meme is the stage setter like a perfectly suited adverb.
That guys is just so damn embarrassing. And he brought along his redneck wife who feels like she needs to howl and bring attention to the act which only makes him feel more confident and will certainly do this again in another public location. It’s like when someone on your team or someone in your family does or says something you just can’t get behind and it effectively changes your opinion of that person. And he is forever “That Guy”. You know the guy who you have serious doubts about when you’re putting the party guest list together.
I would keep that one in the vault though for just the right scene setter.

Is SC even deserving of having a “stock image of”?
Do you have a stock image of other teams?
What is UF’s, UT’s, etc?
Do we need to have “A Convention of GTP’ers” to come up with and ratify stock images for every school we loathe?
It could be fun! You could do one team a week for a loooong time!

Definitely keep the cannon shot…the 2nd painful clip is why the student section at Sanford shouts “Beat those Cocks”…the double entendres is lost when you see grown men strutting like chickens…like our student brethren, you just want to see those idiots get beaten.

They should change their fight song to “Gallo de Ciello” at least they would have a great song about a dishonorable man and an honorable chicken.

Good call, Siskey. Replacing Sandstorm with a song about a chicken thieving dreamer would be appropriate and much more pleasant to listen to.

#2 is just a misguided and likely highly inebriated fan screwing around. Vid should be sped up and overplayed with the “Chicken Dance” music.
The profound solemnity and seriousness of the Cannon Shot crew best represents the misguided and wholly unfulfilled aspirations of the Lamecock faithful…year after year after year.
