Summertime, and the schoolin’ is easy

How it started ($$):

Brody Miller, LSU beat writer: The Arik Gilbert saga was a troubled one at LSU. Sources said he seemed unhappy once he arrived, which of course included a pandemic. There were academic issues, with LSU sources unsure he’d be eligible. Gilbert was the highest-rated tight end in 247Sports history, and he played like it, but by December he went to coach Ed Orgeron and informed him he was opting out for the final weeks of the season.

How it’s going:

Well played, Kirbs.

You know, if part of your job as a head coach is to keep your best players eligible, it seems like Coach O ought to get dinged a little in the coach ranking department.

Kirby seems to be “On the mother” 24/7/365 – I’m glad we have him in charge.

  3. Did anyone else see the tweet yesterday about Coach O being in deep trouble? Brooks Austin posted it yesterday…

    • Added as a defendant in the Derrius Guice lawsuit and lost his starting LT to the portal. Safe to say Ed’s not having a stellar week.

He’s a horrible coach. Probably not a good human either.

          “good human”

I don’t know what the standard is for that ranking. Mostly he seems to me to be a guy who is a ‘character’ who like Gus gets lucky once in a while, but who mostly seems bewildered. Or maybe that’s just the way he talks.

The coach O song from his Ole Piss days was an all time tailgating classic.
It came out about two weeks before we traveled to their campus and was playing everywhere when we arrived. As horrible as they were we almost lost the game.

        • I still haven’t made up my mind whether he’s a great coach, a horrible one, or someone along the lines of what DDB described—a guy competent enough to do well when he’s got plenty of talent to deploy, but who doesn’t actually know what he’s doing 100 percent of the time.

According to my LSU friends, Dare Rosenthal tested positive for weed one too many times and was to be dismissed per university policy.

Somehow I can’t envision Cajun Ed being real big on intellectual pursuits.

Have to take issue with what appears to be a slam on Cajuns and their intellect…think you should sit back and evaluate your own intelligence before making callus and prejudicial remarks…even if in jest.

Oh lighten up. I’ve been using that nickname for 2-3 years. As for my own intelligence; there isn’t any.

Coach O is the new Gene Chizik. he lucked into a transformative player/coach combination and everything fell right for him.

What are the odds he’s not coach at LSU in 2022?

We need coach O to beat the shit out of Florida on a regular basis.

That Florida “he’s not able to handle academics so we didn’t get him” take didn’t age well.

It’s partly Florida’s fault that we have a high drop-out rate for Georgia high school students.
If a kid has a minimum 2.4 GPA on his 15th birthday he can quit HS and go make good money as a professor at UF.
