If you thought Alabama’s offense did a distressingly great job creating big plays in the SECCG, you’re probably not gonna like this stat:
And it’s not a cheap stat, either: 17 plays of 50+ yards, 10 plays of 60+ yards and 6 of 70+ yards.

Great stat from @ByPatForde: Michigan leads the country in plays of 50 or more, 60 or more and 70 or more yards.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Really interesting stat for a team with a Man-Ball reputation. Thanks for triggering my Munsonian insecurities three weeks before the game.

Yeah, that’s very tough to do when you’ve only had four games total all season with over 200 yards passing.
But, as is mentioned elsewhere, I hope that our excellent tackling and excellent front seven will mitigate any massive gains.

We can only hope that these numbers were achieved against mediocre defenses.🤞🏻

Big difference in a conference that can’t tackle and playing against a team that excels at stopping the run, meeshigun does have a couple of rb’s, does Coach Lanning stop the run and confuse the opposition qb…see ya in Miami…GO DAWGS!

At least we slid in at 57th just above Georgia Southern, but behind Duke and Florida Atlantic!

Sounds like they have a couple of explosive RB’s. I remember 2017 wish we had one of those guys now.

If they don’t come out and shut down Michigan and its run-first offense, then this defense is either nowhere near as good as was thought, or something has gone very wrong on the mental front.

I am utterly incapable of picturing us doing anything but losing at this point after getting wedgied, pantsed, and kicked in the nuts repeatedly in Atlanta. I need more time.

To be honest, in my current mental state, I think I prefer losing to Michigan. I might never recover from losing to Alabama for the third time in 15 months. It would probably make me stop watching Georgia football all together. And I’ve been watching the Dawgs all of my 64 years.

Don’t worry, the football gods are not done with us yet. We’ll destroy Michigan, which will get everyone’s hopes up. THEN we will go and let Alabama give us a turbo-wedgie, pull down our pants in front of our girlfriends, and kick us in the nuts repeatedly.

Do you think we can get a ringer in to coach instead of Kirby for that one game? It might give me some hope.

If they were mostly run plays it isn’t concerning, but if they were through the air… that could be an issue.

I think Forde talked about this on his weekly podcast after the conference championships but I think a majority / supermajority of those plays are long runs.

Statistics have let me down before, but we’re #2 in the country DEFENDING the long play from scrimmage – http://www.cfbstats.com/2021/leader/national/team/defense/split01/category30/sort01.html

Still? Even after SECCG?

numbers are “through 12/04,” so yeah ¯_(ツ)_/¯ – I did go back and look, and our defensive #s are for ALL long plays from scrimmage, where the Michigan #s are for plays of 50+ yrds. IF you look at ALL long plays from scrimmage >10yds, is 68th in the country.
Again, in my experience, statistics are mostly made up and flatulent.

Instead of a coin flip, are Kirby and Harbaugh going to have a dick measuring-off on the pregame show?
Because if they do, I do want to make sure I miss it.

Annnnnd…Dan Lanning is to be named the new head coach at Oregon on Monday. The only thing that remains is whether or not he stays through the playoff or is gone next week. Couldn’t come at a better time.

Wonder which coaches he will try to take with him?

Good question. My (pure) guess is that we’ll lose at least one to that new staff. I would guess (nothing more than that) Muschamp will still be in Athens.

Kirby: can he hand the ball off?

I’ve physically tossed a friend from my house for saying, “I hope the Braves lose so they don’t embarrass us in the playoffs again.” “The Dawgs suck!” is what got him banned permanently.
Some of the boys need to reach down between their legs and do a nut check being as you already failed the gut check.

There is only one way this will end UGA vs. Alabama for all the marbles. I am a true 100% dyed in the wool bama fan. But… It won’t be any other way. Uga is for real. Michigan will choke on the dawg defense. (and personally it’s sweet to think about our neighbours hanging an old fashion flogging on those dirt farming sheep loving…. PEOPLE) . No my southern brethren, there is no other way than the real game of the century where UA and UGA put ir all on the field.
