There’s nothing better than watching Florida lose to a G5 team… well, except for watching Florida lose to a G5 team and then get in an on-field scrum after the loss.
The Gator Standard, circa 2021.
Billy Napier should send Dan Mullen a thank you note for setting as low a bar as he could.
Momma said them gators mad cause they have to wear that ridiculous color.

I think I overheard the theme song to the old SNL skit “Lowered Expectations” playing when they interviewed Napier.

Man, UCF is becoming a scary bedtime story for underwhelming SEC teams. Play hard in your bowl game, kids, or the boogeyman will get you.

Well in fairness, they are the best team in the state of Florida most years now

Combine your comment with the fact that a bunch of their guys were borderline SEC guys in Florida high school football leads to a bloody nose if you aren’t ready.

I hate both of these teams. Always nice to see the gators lose, but UCF and their fans are insufferable.

Tony, the reason their fans are insufferable is they are cut from the same jort, black Reebok and tank top wearing cloth that the trailer park trash Handbags.

SEC East in general living “up” to the Gator Standard in ’21 bowl season. Woo hoo! Little did we know that UAB might have been the best SEC East team we faced all year.

Powerful SEC now 0-3 in seasons bowls. Two ass whippings from Army & future Big12 UCF….+ one DNP (Quit). What is this world coming to?

It’s what you get when only one thing matters. Playoffs or bust. Natty or bust.
We’re already reading comments from some here that getting to the playoff and losing is a failure.

Well maybe that, but definitely some of it was cause the SEC East really sucks.

sec east is home to UGA football, it don’t suck all that bad…there just ain’t nobody to play in the east…hey uf …FU!

Sorry, but I don’t see what the state of the SEC East has to do with whether making the playoff in 2021-22 is a successful season or not. Maybe I don’t demand excellence or something like that, but there are only 2 teams in Georgia history that have ever been 12-0 … one won a national title and one is one of the 4 still in the hunt for a national title.
I get it. We didn’t beat big, bad Alabama (and didn’t look good in doing so). Would you be happy if we were 12-1 with a loss to Clemson but beating Bama in Atlanta and probably #2 seed?

I would be ecstatic.

I would be, too, but there’s literally no difference other than being SEC champions than where we are right now.

Let’s face it, Florida had no business bowling, Missouri sucks and without their best player they couldn’t have beaten Vanderbilt, and it wouldn’t surprise if somewhere it comes out that Fisher just up and quit because, why not, he’s tired and wants to stay home for the holidays.
All these teams sucked ass and this shouldn’t be surprised. The rest of the teams with a still viable pulse will represent the conference better, anyway. Let’s just focus on beating the Blue and Maize and quit fretting over these train wrecks of programs (and smile that it’s happening to 404error South in Gainesville)!

I am generally one that wants the SEC do well against out-of-conference opponents.
But this one makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.

They are literally wearing shirts with a picture of the coach they just hired. He may be okay. He will probably get fired and then how stupid will it be to have bought and worn a shirt with his picture on it. Let’s face it gator fans are suffering and it’s sad……….nah FTMFs let em burn

Seeing Gator fans wearing Napier shirts was a little weird, tbh. Even a little creepy.

I showed that to my wife and her comment was “That seems a little cultish.” Yeah, you think. Hasn’t won a single game there and has multiple shirt designs with folks wearing them. It’s a good time to be alive if you hate the gators as much as I do.

The Handbags are desperate. Spurrier is officially a relic, and the Meyer era (if you can call 6 years an era) is quickly fading into the rear view mirror. Is Billy Napier the savior? Doubtful. If he were, the big program closest to seeing him would have snapped him up.

And it’s becoming clearer by the day that the Meyer error was likely filled with violations, cheating, and thugs. And they had the audacity to look shocked at the Georgia dancing on the field after Morenos TD in 07.

A “little” creepy doesn’t do justice to the nicknames they are already anointing him with; “Big Dick Bill”, “Big Willy Billy” and several others, all seeming to revolve around his johnson. It gets a little embarrassing to read, I almost feel bad for them.
I remember how giddy gators were when Muschamp, McElwain and Mullen all first took over, but this is beyond that. He seems like a solid hire and potentially great recruiter, but he doesn’t strike me as a guy who will tell recruits “Jesus came to me in a dream” BS like Meyer did. He’s not turning that Titanic around next season, and he doesn’t have the benefit of Zook’s recruits like Meyer did. Maybe he performs some miracle portal magic and cobbles together a competitive team next season….it’s his only realistic hope.

Stay classy, Handbags. You got your pants pulled down by a coach who got blown out at Auburn.

I thought it was interesting during the one small bit of the game I watched that the announcers talked about the Handbag DL Zachary Carter(?) opted out of the bowl game to prepare for the Senior Bowl. That’s just pure quitting on your teammates.

SEC teams mailing it in (players sitting, coaches holding key players out, shitty half-assed efforts, etc.) are going to fuel the meme that the SEC isn’t strong…esp. the East. This could come back to hurt UGA or any other SECE team that is on the bubble of making the playoffs and SOS looms as the deciding factor. We’ve seen Georgia, Auburn and now Florida lose to UCF (yes, Georgia lost to UCF in the 2010 Liberty Bowl). Mizzo lost to Army.
Are we as weak as the ACC? No, but it’s going to be taunted that way.
As much as I enjoyed seeing Florida get beat, it’s a problem.
And what an irony that Gus is the coach of UCF.

Counterpoint: Clemson had no issues getting in the playoffs despite the fact the ACC is barely P5.

98% of the time if you win the East, you will be a wild card in the expanded playoff bracket. I think if you look back in the playoff era, the conference championship game loser would have made a 12-team playoff every year since 2017.

Some of that may have to have been related to them taking the gator receiver off the field on a cart with 2 minutes to go. It wasn’t a dirty hit but it might tend to piss you off. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/32932007/florida-gators-wr-justin-shorter-carted-taking-hard-hit-loss-ucf

Jimbo is the most overrated coach ever.
Florida is still low class.
Gus still gets on my nerves.

Jimbo won national championship with a nightmare of a management case at qb. Fsu has been a tire fire since he left. He is the first Saban assistant to get a W over him after 24 prior attempts. Just signed a top 3 class. I think he does ok.

Of course he was probably just mad that they lost to a UCF team that is “less than” theirs with a backup freshman QB, without their best receiver, and lead by a coach who wasn’t good enough for the SEC. It’s tough when you get beat by a G5 team who’s had a down year compared to the level they’ve been at over the last 5+ years.
