The last paragraph — Art Briles as victim — is particularly contemptible. These people should all rot.
“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Disgusting.

Hey stupid? What about “re-traumatizing” the actual rape victims by trying to legitimize Briles?
How utterly disgusting. These assholes have no shame.

No one has any type of voice in popular culture anymore unless victimhood can be established. Hue Jackson is obviously well coached in how to play this. I’m sure racism will read its ugly head soon; not that it matters since winning football games (making money) is the only card that can trump racism.

Hue Jackson spent years in the NFL as a head coach and coordinator. He’s used to being in the spotlight and getting attention. Now he’s the head coach at Grambling where nobody gives a shit about him anymore. So he hires Art Briles and guess what, the spotlight is back on. Didn’t PT Barnum say there’s no such thing as bad publicity?

I would suggest accountability (of which Briles has demonstrated none) should come before those hashtags.

Grambling, fire both of these assholes and start over. Yeah, it probably means writing off the 2022 season, but Jackson’s gonna sink your program sooner or later.

Jackson appears to be beyond clueless. At least now Grambling has a excuse to fire him for cause and extricate the school without a buyout.

Garbage. Utter complete garbage. if Hue Jackson’s foundation doesn’t know better then Grambling University certainly should.
And not for nothing, but there are a whole lot of young coaches with innovative approaches to coaching offense who deserve a chance to coordinate a college offense and many of them are Black coaches. One of the reasons cited often for why we have so few Black head coaches in football is that few of them have gotten shots as coordinators. Would love to see an HBCU offer an opportunity to one of them instead of trying to polish this person’s horrendous record on serving as an apologist for rapists.

Dan Murphy from ESPN is reporting that Jackson’s “foundation” took in $158K in 2019, paid its sole employee nearly three-quarters of that, and made only $4,000 in grants.
Fuck this guy.

But! Just in case you’re actually clueless instead of just pretending to be, here’s a pretty good timeline of the events at Baylor with links to other reporting of the rape culture at Baylor football on Art Briles’ watch and the Paterno-esque lack of action on Briles’ part. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/33365146/the-line-art-briles-downfall-baylor-hire-grambling-state

I just read that. I see a lot of Title IX news (which doesn’t really convince me of shit). Not a lot of jury convictions and no where did I read this guy raped anybody or was participating in a rape. I don’t care enough about Briles to get worked up one way or another.

Well, you say that, and yet you seem to care enough to get worked up enough to post multiple comments on a blog post about him so I think you may care more than you realize. So it makes me wonder why you’re so moved to protest when a man who is accused in court filings by more than one person of seeming indifferent at best to the fact his players were accused of raping women. You’re correct, Art Briles hasn’t been accused of raping anyone. The fact that he’s credibly accused of allowing multiple athletes to continue playing football after they were accused of rape (because they were really good at football) and apparently described people he brought to campus as being “bad dudes” is enough to lead many to conclude that he shouldn’t be allowed to be in a leadership position on a college campus again. You seem to feel like that isn’t a big deal. You’re entitled to think so – but I certainly don’t think that it’s “victimhood” to not want a guy who knowingly allowed accused rapists to wear his team’s uniform to be in that position again.

This looks like a good place to put this:

Calling Briles a piece of shit is insulting to pieces of shit everywhere.

Doesn’t sound great for Art. But on the other hand when scrolling thru this site—- the victimhood will peel the paint off the walls on this site. How far in the depths of internet hell did you have to go to find this? Impressive

Not to far at all, it was right there at the surface like a floating turd.

It’s a poorly written document, aside from its ridiculousness and offensiveness.
The wording in the first paragraph almost leads one to believe Hugh Jackson is expressing his commitment to “teaching others the importance of knowing how to prevent…. proper reporting procedures.”

I don’t like the hire so that makes me anti-forgiveness and anti-redemption? Talk about gaslighting. Fuck you Hue.

Not only that…. when you talk about what Art Briles did (or failed to do) you (YOU!) are re-victimizing and re-traumatizing people.
