“Looking at the from the sidelines,” one coach said, “it does make for good entertainment.”

Yes, indeedy, it do.  I probably spent an hour yesterday scouring the Intertubes for quotes from Saban’s and Fisher’s peers looking for the pithiest comment of all.

For the moment, this one’s the topper“There has always been an ‘honor amongst thieves’ mantra in the SEC, and those two just called each other’s wives fat to a global audience.”

What’s your favorite?

    Fat wives aside,
I liked the doing 85 in a 55 zone analogy.

  2. I thought Kiffin’s “First time ever, I’m speechless” comment was pretty good too.

Oh, sorry. Not on point. But still. On point.

The best to me is Lane saying he was speechless for the first time in his life. Think about it: What Jimbo did was so momentous and earth-shattering that it made CFB’s Jolly Jester speechless.

Jimbo truly did the impossible, in more ways than one.

  5. Jimbo: “there’s videos and pictures out there of Nick kicking puppies and punching handicapped children. Look into his background…ask anyone who ever worked for him. It’s out there. Rest assured Bobby Bowden never jack-slapped 14 patients at St. Jude’s.”

    I keed I keed…but

I really want Corch Meyers to weigh in because he will take the high road, and it will be hilarious.

  9. I saw the fat wives comment. That was pretty good. I have also enjoyed Kiffin’s digs at Jimbo.

    Jimbo:
“It’s despicable that we have to sit here at this level of ball and say these things to defend the people of this organization, the kids, 17-year-old kids and their families,” Fisher said. “It’s amazing. Some people think they’re God. Go dig into how God did his deal. You may find out about a lot of things you don’t want to know.”
    Jimbo called Nick “God”.

    One other thing:
I would like to thank Kirby for not being in the middle of this pissing contest. Life is too hard already, you don’t need this crap.

  12. Wonders never cease. What a year ’22 has been so far. Never in my wildest imagination would I have thought I would find myself thinking, “Maybe I don’t dislike him so much after all,” about both Elon Musk AND Jimbo Fisher.

Mind you, “don’t dislike him so much” is clearing a very low bar in each case.

Going to guess that Derek Dooley made the “fat wives” comment and Ed Orgeron was the one with the “85 in a 55” quote.

From Mike Griffin at Dawgnation quoting Steve “Coors Lite” Spurrier
“I don’t know why (Fisher) is mad at Saban,” said Spurrier . . .
“Did Saban say something that wasn’t true?”

    Y’all.

    This is after one natty.

Imagine a future where Arch Manning wins Kirby’s 3rd natty in 2025.
