Oh, there’s something here you can try…
- Nine of 18 previous winners of the Broyles Award have become head coaches? That bodes well for Tom Herman, the latest winner.
- Speaking of coaching hires, I wonder if someone at one of the SEC schools with an opening at defensive coordinator looks at this guy.
- When’s the last time you saw a school’s faculty deliver a vote of no confidence in their president for shutting down a football program?
- And Mark Emmert is troubled to see the University of Alabama-Birmingham drop its football program.
- Surprisingly, Emmert doesn’t seem to be troubled by a lot of things he should be troubled by. Okay, maybe not so surprisingly.
- If there’s one thing that unites politicians on the left and the right, it’s throwing taxpayer money at sports. Sigh.
- Is Jim Tressel considering hiring Bo Pelini?
- This has to sting, if true. But if at first you don’t succeed…
That Clancy Pendergast guy sounds like a real find for someone. Sounds like he’s not the type for recruiting though.

After being so successful and good as a DC why has he been let go so much? To read the article he is one of the top DCs yet he has been fired a lot and didn’t get a job last year.

He probably has the personality of a football coach

Mark Emmert says there’s been a seminal moment? Has he been spanking the monkey again?

I’m big on Tom Herman. He is going to be a stud head coach. Going to be a home run for someone.

Sounds similar to the job Bobo has done the past few years. Tell me again why Bobo wasn’t even a finalist? I guess B-M couldn’t front the $50 application fee?

For the “replace the coach” crowd at ANY school that has a currently high-functioning football program…..put that last little nugget in your pipe and smoke it for awhile.

I really don’t understand how Herman won the award in lieu of Doug Meacham. When your cupboard is stocked at QB, it’s pretty easy to get results (Ohio St.). On the other hand, Meacham completely revamped TCU’s offense with the exact same personnel from 2013. His pedigree is outstanding and likely will be moving on to greener pastures after only one year with Patterson. He IS the star on the rise.

Wait, So Emmert says there have been no delays in the UNC investigation. He also says–twice–that UNC has done a great job working with his investigators. But he also doesn’t know anything about investigations, and there is a firewall between Emmert and compliance.
Then why did Santiago need to be transferred? I am starting to think Mark Emmert ordered the code red.

You’re goddamn right he did! He presides over an organization that has rules. And the compliance to those rules has to be monitored by men with investigatory powers. Who’s gonna do it, you SCDawg? He has a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom!

Speaking of units of measurement, “Sen. Claire McCaskill had a very pointed comment directed at you at the Senate hearing last summer of why your role even exists.”
McCaskill was ready to make another very pointed comment about why Emmert even exists but was then told by an underling that Emmert exists because his hairdresser creates a fabulous product capable of withstanding gale force winds as well as blanket parties

Please don’t let Pendergast go to any school we have to play.

Please don’t let Tom Herman and/or Doug Meacham go there either.

While I can not recall where I read the articles, I do remember reading multiple articles stating that due to health reasons (heart issues?) David Cutcliffe had zero desire to coach a big time program again. He is apparently very happy and healthy in Durham.

I would much rather be at Duke, especially if I was Cutcliffe’s age…not that he’s old, but rebuilding Michigan is a young man’s job. Pressure ramps up etc…I don’t blame him one bit for staying at Duke.

After President Watts loses his job at UAB I suspect he’ll regret being a shill for Paul Bryant, Jr. So the shill loses his job and Bryant just chalks up another win in the nasty game of Alabama politics.

I mentioned Pendergast back when grantham left for lousyville. I’m glad that we got CJP but Pendergast would’ve been a good second choice. His Cal defenses were really nasty without having 5 or 4 star talent. Hope he goes to the Big 12 or Big 10 or someone else that we don’t play very often.
