Half of the Boise State football coaches will visit their colleagues at Alabama next week as part of the staff’s annual professional development.
Four of the Broncos’ offensive coaches — all but new wide receivers coach Robert Prince — and defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski are making the trip to Alabama.

Never have understood it myself, either. Most coaches in the SEC would give advice on how to beat their kid’s t-ball team if they thought it might help their team in some way. Even if they were no direct benefit to them, those coaches could care less about protecting conference integrity.

I’ve actively rooted against the SEC in 4 of their 5 BCS title games. Alabama targets the same recruits we do, Auburn cheats, and I would root against Florida if they were playing the University of Al Qaeda Exploding Camels. To hell with conference pride.

+1. I’ve rooted against all the SEC teams in the BCS title games. I hate Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, and I’m not real fond of Bama or LSU. I felt the same way last year when the Saints were in the Super Bowl. People asked how I, a Falcons fan, could root against the Saints. It’s easy, they’re a division rival, I want them to lose every game they play. Maybe if Vandy made the title game, I might pull for them, but they would most likely have to beat the Dawgs to get there, so who the hell knows?

I can respect that. I never feel obligated to root for SEC teams. I pull for the ones I like and the rest can go jump in a lake.
There’s virtually no way I will ever pull for Auburn. I just can’t fathom the situation where that would occur.

Agreed. The idea of an SEC eam twinning the MNC sounds good in the abstract but the problem is which school (other than UGA) I could stomach winning it. Vandy? Ole Miss? I can’t think of anyone else.

Maybe it’s because I live in Florida, but I’ve never had any issues with Bama. I will never pull for Florida, Tennessee or Auburn in any game ever, though.

AH! But what about when Florida and Auburn play? I have a pennant flag with a meteor on it for just such occasions. I have family in Gainesville, and I would be totally okay with total obliteration so long as it occurred during a UF/AU game. That’s the price they pay for living with the enemy.

A resounding “Yes!” and “Thank you!” and +1’s all around to all of these things. This past season I even took it a step further and wished for bad things to happen to them. No more Mr. Nice Guy. Coach Richt can show class and gentlemanly sportsmanship.
In fact, he should, if for no other reason than it gives me more cover and leeway to be as sore a loser and even sorer a winner as possible.
I hate the Gators, Vols, Tigers, Tigers, ‘Cocks, ‘Cats, Hogs, ‘Dores, Tide, Rebs and bulldogs. All of them. Hate them. Don’t want them to win ever.
I am sure as @#$! not rooting for them to do anything but lose.

From Saban’s perspective a weak Georgia makes his recruiting job easier, he’ll take any chance he can to kick us.

In the short run and long run, a weak UGA is good for Bama. Just like many others, Saban and Bama are spending a lot of time and effort recruiting the best GA players. Easier to woo a “life long UGA fan” when we aren’t competing for conference titles and in the top 10-15 nationally. Saban is hating it that we are even getting the exposure of being in this game, but he can turn that into a negative on the recruiting trail if Boise whips us.

69, we all should WISH that the Dawgs could run the ball like the ’66 and ’67 Packers. Everybody watching knew what was coming but Lombardi ran it anyway and made 5 yards a carry. As to you suggestion, that is too good an idea for anyone in Athens right now to do. How about a pow-wow with UGA offensive coaches and Mike Smith and Mike Mularkey? Their team won the most regular season games in the NFC and Atlanta’s only 60 miles away. Van Gorder, a former Bulldogs DC, is on the Falcons staff. Why not a phone call to him to set it up? Is CMR that sideways with the guy that something like that couldn’t happen?

I will root for all SEC teams (sans Awburn effective November 2010) in OOC games. There are enough talented recruits available to UGA, and will be regardless of how those SEC contests go. If UGA is competitive in a conference recognized as the best, and most competitive, top quality athletes will want to play for you.
What is the point of dominating a weak conference that gets no respect (Boise, TCU, USC, Ohio State,etc.) if you get no respect? You hear people question their undefeated teams, you NEVER hear anyone questioning the SEC Champs’ credibility. I hope the SEC gets better and more difficult, at least we will see more competitive games than we schedule outside the conference. SEC is what it is about to me, rest of it is window dressing. Wins/blowouts over other conference teams insure that respect.

Am I the only one that thinks this shouldn’t matter? I mean, if the Boise coaches can learn everything by sitting in a classroom for a few days and then teach it to 85 players who haven’t seen much (if any) of it before, then we’ve already lost. There is something to be said for actually doing it on the field, is there not? There should also be more pure talent on our team, right? Isn’t our OL way bigger than their DL? Boise “needs” to scheme; we just need to take care of ourselves. Granted that’s a tall order but I digress. The last person I will blame if we lose is Saban. What I would tell the team is simply “no excuses.”

Amen. I would prefer we GIVE them our own film and have the attitude of “we’re going to beat you anyway”.
Bowl season is win-win for me. If the other SEC teams lose, I get to throw a Nelson-like “HA-ha” their way. If they win, well then it’s because we’re the best conference around, bay-by!

I agree with Macallanlover…I want our conference to be feared/respected by all the others and the way to get that is to beat them whenever/whereever. Let Boise St come to Bama, I’m sure some film from their opponents will find its way to UGA. We have to beat them with what we have and do it big time…we won’t lose because Bama hosted their coaches. The Dawgs have to prepare and believe they can beat anyone in the country. We’re Georgia, by damn, and we don’t fear anyone!! Go Dawgs, GATA!!

Based on the way Boise has played the past few years, I personally hope they start tinkering with that formula and try something they have never tested before. For those upset with Bama sharing anything, coaches have access to all this in books, training videos, game film, etc., so a trip to Tuscaloosa is just a chance to ask questions in-person and not over the phone. From what I saw, Bama got toasted a few times on defense this past year and lost 3 more games than their fanbase expected/predicted. They blew a bigger lead against The aU than we did, at home. Not skeered of little nicky!

Boise is already perfecting plays that they will run against us. They can afford to throw all-in for this game .Everything else will be downhill if they can beat a SEC team to kick off the season. Why in the hell do you think they scheduled us when they are ranked as high as 6th in some preseason polls? I’m tellin’ you, these cowboy-hat-wearin’ Broncs are reahearsing, not practising. I hope we get a glimpse of our Sept team in the Spring Game. And I hope it starts the team getting it’s summer mean on. We are going to need it.
Their visit to Saban will only confirm that their ongoing rehearsal is the best plan to kick off the season. S&C: “Lift Dat Barge, Toat Dat Bale……”. Get ready men. You will demonstrate to the Broncs how to kick off a new season. Promise not to take you for granted. We know there is tons of sweat between now and then.
