“In the SEC, dude, we make sure you’re well taken care of.”

Ladies and Gentlemen, here’s Charles Barkley, your hands down winner of today’s “Dude, Shut The Hell Up” Award, jointly presented by Auburn University and Mike Slive.

“Everybody wants to give us a hard time about giving Cam Newton $200,000.  That’s called a good damn investment.  We got him for 200 grand?  Are you kidding me?  That’s a good deal!”

Turns out it WAS a super deal…and it’s tax deductable if it went in Cecil’s offering plate.

I KNOW that our boosters did nothing of the sort. Garbage. Pure garbage.

Auburn’s philosophy has always been “it’s not what you think you know, it’s what you can prove”. Looks like that philosophy will work in regard to Cam Newton, but it’s just a matter if time before they’re on probation again. Sooner or later, it catches up to you…Trooper.

Always a hoot listening to Sir Charles. As the saying goes, many a word spoken in jest…..

$200 grand? That’s an hour in a casino for Sir Charles. Small price to pay for the Year of the Newton indeed.

When you’ve got Charles’ kind of bucks, you don’t give a thought of rounding off 20K. It’s just left over for the next auction.

I love Sir Charles. LOVE HIM.

I’m not foolish enough to think 11 of the 12 SEC schools (not recognizing A&M or Mizzou til they play a game) haven’t cheated at some point. However, Charles, don’t say “in the SEC we take care of you” when you only know the inner workings of one program. Just say “at Auburn.” Yes, you’re admitting that your school has been an active cheater, but you’ve really got to own it. Don’t try to spread the blame around to other schools.

I like the way he drags Nike into it as well. I imagine that at the same time Auburn is screaming, “dude, shut the hell up”, Oregon is screaming, “see, it’s not just us”?
