Okay, I didn’t draw names from a hat randomly. But I’m not sure what I came up with on my own is any better.
- Alabama. Back to back 52-0 games against Arkansas. Can’t get any more consistent than that.
- Missouri. Anybody who tells you he or she saw this coming, with the possible exception of Gary Pinkel, is fibbing. And I’m not even sure I’d believe Pinkel.
- Auburn. So when does Gene Chizik step up to take credit for laying the foundation for Malzahn?
- LSU. Ah, it’s the return of the inexplicable loss under Miles. Where you been, buddy?
- Texas A&M. So that’s what the best quarterback and receiver and the worst defense in the conference gets you.
- South Carolina. Butch Jones 1, Steve Spurrier 0. That’s gotta sting a little.
- Georgia. September seems like such a long time ago.
- Florida. Gave up 500 yards to Mizzou. If the Gators can’t play defense, what have they got left?
- Ole Miss. The wildest ride in the SEC right now.
- Tennessee. I’m waiting for the Phil Fulmer retort.
- Vanderbilt. Finally got their ranked opponent scalp. But I bet that field goal attempt with 20 seconds to go in the game gets filed in the back of Mark Richt’s brain for future reference.
- Mississippi State. Not a good time to catch a bye week bounce.
- Arkansas. Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but Arky lost its last two conference games by a combined 104-7. And the Hogs still have four conference games to go, with two against ranked opponents.
- Kentucky. Seriously regrets not having Arkansas on the schedule this year.
Get The Picture 
Ranking Georgia at #7 seems more kind of like a life time achievement ranking at this point, based on the current team we are fielding I’d have to rank us about # 11, maybe with the return of Gurley and Bennett we get more justified at #7, I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

What’s wrong with the FG attempt by Vandy? If they make it we have to score 7 to tie instead of win. Its not like they were going to have it blocked or botch the snap.

With 20 seconds left? You run some slow developing play that eats up half the remaining clock. Or you pooch punt to push Georgia farther away from scoring a TD.

I’m only sure no block was possible because in fact DO play field goal safe most of the time (I’m being slightly sarcastic). Our “rush” mainly consists of 4-5 linemen standing up while the backers stand in back of them.
Honestly, though, I was still of the mindset that Murray could somehow move us down the field. Of course I was ignoring the multiple injuries and previous 5+ quarters of evidence to the contrary. We’d need a vertical passing game and apparently that’s gone.

That’s actually what the Commodes should have done. It uses up more clock and even if they don’t score it’s a long way to the Vandy endzone for a team with almost no offense. The kicker might get hurt, though.

Considering the range our FG kicker has, it didn’t seem so far fetched to kick a FG and thereby force us to go the distance for a TD. Sure, there were other options, but I don’t believe we even tried a 20 yard throw all game. Nothing wrong with vandy taking the points to increase the margin. Franklin wasn’t running up the score.
And as far as CMR filing it away, I’ll believe it when I see it.

Would put the dawgs below Vandy. From penthouse to outhouse. A mere ghost of who they were when they left Sanford Stadium after manhandling a solid Carolina tea. Injuries beside, this is a coaching staff who failed to planned and failed to get enough depth on a roster. Plus never understand game management, ST, and recruting.

We didn’t manhandle S. Carolina at all, all the problems that are present now were present then, the difference is we have lost Aaron Murray’s whole supporting cast and our offense can no longer make up for it. Folks were riding to high after the wins over Carolina and LSU, and they are riding too low now, Grantham needs to go at the end of the year, otherwise there’s too much panic and handringing going on that isn’t justified, on the whole we are acting like Tennessee fans and we’ll drive our program to crap just like they did if we don’t watch out.

#7 for the Dawgs? Based on the team currently on the field, in addition to what we have seen the past 2 weeks, this UGA team is closer to #10 or #11. I fully expect to see a position coach let go at the end of the season in order to make room for a special teams coach. The loss in Nashville was a complete team failure. At this point I have no idea how the remainder of the season will play out. Yet again Richt is charged with the task of righting the ship. Realisticly, how many times can Richt and Co. pull the from from their hat? More importantly, how times will Richt and Co. allow this team to veer off course by such a wide margin (specifically the D and special teams, with an * next to the offense due to injuring and quizzical conservative play calling at times).

Agree. We’re definitely one of the worst Ds and STs. The O couldn’t score more than 20 against vandy! We should be near the bottom after Saturday’s fiasco. Maybe we redeem ourselves in a couple weeks and bounce back up to 7.

UGA will look like a totally different team in Jacksonville with some bodies back…namely that Gurley kid. If he is 100% UGA has a great offense with Douglas and Green, we do not.

The O-line continues to struggle to put together a complete game. The Defense (they did look improved vs Vandy. Vandy?) struggles to stop anyone and they are obviously of the belief that any short field equals 7. Special teams…need I say more. These shortcomings are not new. Which leads me to believe that there are MAJOR coaching issues in this program. Teams are allowed to improve over the course of the season. Yes, injuries have halted the offense, no question about that. This is where coaches actually coach kids up. We have yet to see that happen in Athens.

I have only pointed out the obvious. There is no doom and gloom being spread. Granted, I am not handing out rainbows and lollipops either. Much like every Dawg fan, I am frustrated with the situation this team finds itself in, and it is not all due to injury as some would have you believe. There are no drums being banged to run anyone out of town…yet 🙂

Also I hate that Douglas has had those 2 big fumbles…kid seems like a strong runner but he has got to hang onto the ball in those situations.
Also someone should tell the defense it is alright to not give up a TD after a TO.

The D stopped Vandy on 4th down after the Swann muff but the ref made the BS call on Ramik. Can’t blame the D for this loss.

Hey…wait just a darn minute, boss….I have been tooting the Missouri horn since way before they played us…I darn sure thought they were going to be pretty good, and Mauck is the QB they really wanted to play this year, but Franklin got well and thus he was the starter.
I’m not surprised they are where they are, I am a little surprised at where they are since they have no players, since we, for instance, are so much more talented than they are, blah, blah blah, blah.

Mauk is a better QB than Franklin. This is the second SEC East team (FU is the other) where the starter got hurt and the backup is better, meaning that the injury made the idiot HC play the best player.

I’ll say also that our defense had one of their better games. No more arm flapping trying to get lined up. Got pressure. Got a pick six. Got a big stop after a turnover. However two terrible calls just flipped it on them. If we still had a functioning offense, we’d be sitting pretty. Of course, if my aunt Sue had a moustache, she’d be my uncle John.

No, but somehow those same offensive players were able to crack 300+ yards and 21+ points vs. Missouri’s D, which I think we could agree, is a good bit better than Vandy’s D.

^^^what he said. I was on the couch saying we are right back to the Joe Cox/Willie Martinez mess of times. Injuries or not we still should have beat Vandy and they had their back up QB in the second half. I’ve been willing to give Grantham time but he’s had 4 recruiting classes now. Everyone we compete against has players leave early for the NFL, etc. NO excuse for this year’s D. In the Vandy game Bobo fell into the play not to lose mentality, run on 1st & 2nd down and throw on 3rd, everyone at home could see that. And everyone is right, the O-line has not had the injury bug but still is under-performing.
Special teams are an abortion. Even in the first half we fumbled a punt but there was a penalty on Vandy that nullified it. He had Vandy guys all around him so he should have fair caught it, but no he didn’t & they hit him too early (thankfully) and it was a penalty. My point is our punt returners have no freaking clue what to do. Maybe its because we run a different one out there on each kick.

Joe Cox was not the problem in 2009. The D was the problem in 2009. Joe Cox was a DGD. Without Joe Cox’s outstanding performances against Arkansas, Arizona State and South Carolina UGA would have lost all 3 of those games in addition to the 5 games the Dawgs lost that season. Georgia had to score 35+ points per game in order to win because of the porous D. Does that sound similar to what is going on now? It should. What you said above is about the same thing as blaming Murray now. Willie -yes. Joe Cox-no, he was not the problem.
