I’ve never been comfortable with the concept of the Lord taking sides in a sporting event, but I’m obviously in the minority on the subject.
Then again, the GPOOE™ landed a gig on the SEC Network. That could very well be a sign of divine intervention.
What about the % that think God coaches their program? And count me in the % that think the GA Dome is cursed.

Look, it’s the same percentage that believe elvis is alive. The same percentage that don’t believe evolution. The same that believe 9/11 was an inside job.
It’s the same damned people.

Yep. I have a client that claims she is Elvis’ love child. I pointed out to her that her birthday is about 3 years after his death. She looked at me, grinned, and said, “If he really died, sure.”

I notice the survey only includes Christian denominations. No Jews, Muslims, Hindus or Buddhists were surveyed, apparently.
Then again, the readings for Mass today included a passage from 1Samuel where the Hebrews do battle with the Philistines and bring the Ark of the Covenant as a battle-aid. The Hebrews are massacred. That is followed by a New Testament reading where a leper says to Jesus if you will it, I can be made clean”
God can influence football, but that doesn’t mean He wishes to. Even for Notre Dame. 🙂

I am a Christian and a sports fan and I can say unequivocally that God directly impacts the conduct and outcomes of games. Are they always the outcomes I want? Well….

I guess this would explain why there are so few Jews in sports then, cause he’s a Christian God! I kid i kid!

Whoa, Nitza! That explains it. How could they have been expected to win with a goy coach who kept yelling, “FUM-BULLLL!!!” every time there was a casualty.

Jeff Stilson for the win …
“I don’t watch football anymore, I gave that up. I got tired of the interviews after the games, because the winning players always give credit to God, and the losers blame themselves. You know, just once I’d like to hear a player say, ‘Yeah, we were in the game, until Jesus made me fumble. He hates our team.'”

The idea that God chooses to influence football games loses a bit more credibility with me every time Auburn wins.

If you take any tips from the Book of Job, I think maybe you identify the wrong supernatural entity influencing Auburn wins. Just sayin’….

I’ll allow you the tipped pass, but do not touch his ACL. Not until next week.

It’s the Ol’ Debbil, at least as to Auburn.

In general, I would say that there is no divine intervention, or curses, in sports. But if you asked me after the UT game …

I do believe God cares if players are hurt, as well as those 9 million children. I cringe when any player is hurt when I’m watching a game. It’s never too early to pray for player safety. That was our killer this year, and I pray it won’t be a factor next season.

God allows 9 million children a year to die so of course he’s an Auburn fan.
