It’ll be a cold day in Chicago before they do that.

You’d like to think there’s a limit on the stupidity of college football’s ruling class – like realizing that a choice between the Rose Bowl and Soldier Field in January to host a national title game isn’t really a choice at all.  But that Bill Hancock can’t bring himself to admit even that tells you that either he’s a hack’s hack, or that there really isn’t a call his bosses wouldn’t prostitute themselves for if the money was good enough.

Just remember that if they actually ever decide to do something like this, they’ll claim it’s because the fans want it.

Senator, the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.

What a picture… Talk about a never-ending job. Remove all the snow from the stadium by picking it up and throwing it somewhere else in the stadium.

As a current resident of the Windy City, I can safely say a national championship game (or semi-final) at Soldier Field would be the worst. idea. ever.

The Monday of the BCS championship game, I believe we had high temperatures that were below zero. Even mass transit was severely impacted. A game at Soldier Field would have been a nightmare.

But, hey, I’m sure ADM/Boeing/Groupon/Sears/Tribune Media etc. would have loved to throw some jack at warm luxury boxes for all of those rabid C-suite college football fans.

Makes sense to say “you can never rule that out” from a pure political standpoint but it should have been said only after you stopped laughing at the question. Could also have added, if your location is within 250 miles of the Mason/Dixon line you must have a dome to submit any bid for consideration. This silliness has nothing to do with prejudice to the locale, just the quality of the game and comfort of the fans. You play all season in environment A and then decide your champion by competing in environment F. How brilliant! Something just ain’t right about Yankees. Tell you what boys, you host the hockey playoffs, football will be played on a stable surface.

I can personally assure you Senator that it’s a VERY cold (and snowy) day in Chicago right now……….and the (devout) stupidity, ego and greed of the NCAA has no limit for the tight price.

It’s the final logical step of the process to turn college football into NFL-Lite.

BTW I hope it’s 33° and sleeting during the Super Bowl. I’d love to see the stands half empty in the second half.

Have been hoping for worse. They will probably get lucky but it would be a great message for the college group to get. Would love to see the SB postponed and played to a crowd the size of an ACC Championship game.

      • Mac, you have to use the lexicon – it’s the World’s Smallest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Seriously, I agree with you. I hope a NY/NJ SB is an absolute disaster for the NFL to show Hancock and his stooges that a NC game in the North is just a bad idea.

True, I haven’t adopted that because I have never seen a cocktail consumed, or even a tailgate at those disasters. Clever name but not sure it is even a worthy contender. Hard to believe the difference between that and the SECCG, I would have thought the ACC could have at least made a better effort, at least in years where GT didn’t back into the game.
