Boy, it must suck to watch your financial dreams wiped away by… evidence.
When being interviewed in his West Broad Street apartment, police said the student was informed about the video footage that showed him being struck by a white male, not Gurley, police said.
The student admitted he’d had been drinking that night, but contended he was not drunk, according to police.
He became “a little confrontational” during the interview, according to the police report, and said he did not wish to pursue his allegation.
I’ll bet. Then he had to cancel the appointment with the personal injury attorney.
What a dick…

I am just relieved UGA did not suspend him indefinitely until more facts come out, you know, just to make sure.

Good thing for Gurley that there was a video. If there was video in the Ferguson, MO issue it would have saved us all a lot of damn headache.

We don’t need video. You can tell everyone what happened.

I wasn’t taking a side there Hacker. I’m just saying somebody’s lying there too. Video would make it easier to tell who that was and save a lot of time like it did here.

Mea culpa. I misunderstood. I’ve seen far too many people simply pronounce what happened in cases like that with completely unfounded certainty. FWIW, I agree. Body cameras on police would save a lot of headache everywhere. We could vindicate good cops, prosecute bad cops, and save people the headache of protests clogging up the streets.

The article probably saved him a hospital visit by not printing his name.

All the more reason we should act to protect our own. Creeps are. Creeps that con are worse.
Todd should know that everyone at his school and it’s community has his back. Could we get the name attached to the white fist that ended the immediate creepism? I’d like to buy him a beer. It was probably a teammate and they don’t want the publicity. Next time a townie can do the honors. Hey, AHD, whatcha doing this Sat nite-Sunday morn.?
I think the little creep has been posting on here. Idiots like this need to have a roach slipped into a pocket or two before calling the cops.
Also, I wonder how many autographs Todd gave the APD? Hell, I’ll bet they got him a healthy sandwich, a glass of milk and offered to give him a lift to the dorm. Hope so.

they may refer to him as “the student” in the article, but if it was Clarke-County police his name is gonna be public record.

I dunno, he’s still the victim of an assault (whether he deserved it or not is irrelevant), so I really doubt they will release his name.

Sounds like he was the recipient of a well deserved ass whipping. Gurley brings the physicality even when he doesn’t. Chuck Norris wears Todd Gurley underwear.

he’s also arguably guilty of filing a false police report, and drinking underage. wherein he is not a victim

If it was sexual assault or if he was a minor they could withhold it, under these circumstances I think the police report is a public record.

Agree.

Todd Gurley is the victim of a fictitious report. He should press charges and end this shit in his life.

Geeze folks, I’m not condoning what this guy did in any way, shape, form or fashion. I’m just saying that his name isn’t likely to be released. Chill out.

AND – what enormous restraint for Gurley not to flatten some shithead who dropped the N-bomb on him, to his face. and it looks like the shithead may have gotten his ass beat by a white kid for dropping it.

Meh, you don’t get to hit someone simply for calling you a name. Period. I don’t care what that name is.
Good for Gurley for being an adult and realizing that.

Gurley still made a big, big mistake. Whether you’re innocent or guilty, never, under any circumstances, should you talk to the police. That is, unless they grant you full immunity from prosecution.
There is a reason why you should exorcise your 5th amendment rights and let your lawyer take over from there.

Too many people think they can just talk their way out of trouble. As Ron White said, they have the RIGHT to remain silent, they just don’t have the ABILITY.

This should be required viewing for pretty much everyone (except criminals). After the attorney/professor spends 25 minutes laying out all the reasons why you should never talk to the police, the police officer who takes the podium after him at 27 minutes immediately states that everything the attorney just said is 100% correct. That alone was a real eye opener for me.

if you are in Gurley’s shoes in this, talking to the police is absolutely the right thing to do. a damn video confirmed his version of events. and if he didn’t talk to the police he would have bought himself a metric fuckload of bad ESPN publicity (cue Herbstreit) and allowed some assholes to speculate on whether or not he may have been guilty of criminal activity.

Typically, I guess, I see the wider view of this shit. That some punk-ass mutha fucka thought he was gonna make money suing a football player is so far from what I was raised to believe, this guy must be from another planet.
At the end of a long day, where you, with a little help from your brothers in arms, you saved the bacon on the field, you adjorn to a local bistro to hang with your buddies and some asshole wants to fight? And make money off your sweat?
Playing college football ain’t easy. I still think Winston is an asshole, though.

Let’s give Gurley credit for one more thing: he’s got remarkable self-control. When he signed he said that UGA wouldn’t ever have any problems out of him and KM. So far, he has absolutely kept that promise. Even when baited by racist idiots.

Reading all these posts gave me a wonderful excu…idea. We could organize an old fart’s escort for TG. Local OFs could be notified from a call list when he goes downtown, get out of bed, tell the wife you’re goin’ pubbing and not to wait up. It improves TG’s life and your own home life; or, she punches you out and you have to call the next OF on the list. Just to make it tasty, there could be younger women on the list. Then the wife will accompany you.
Yezziree. I can see Todd, his group and adjoining tables of 60yrs-plus people merrily having a good time, a creep comes over and gets whacked with an anonymous cane from the OF’s section. Retired police, old lawyers, social mavens of Athens (what a group!) spring into action and another rounder’s evening is had in Athens.
