We have a lot in common with Wisky fans.

Lemme see if I’ve got these right: UGA’s win after trailing by 17 or more was 2013 @ GT (down 20), and its loss after leading by 17 or more was 2015 @ UT (up 21). At first, I thought the comback win was against VaTech in the CFA Bowl, but the date for that game was 12/31/06, which falls just outside the range of 2007-2016.

That chart was pretty interesting. FSU with 5(!) wins after trailing by 17 in a game and 16 wins after being down at least 10. That’s pretty amazing.

Yep. Never get comfortable with a lead over Florida State (right, Ole Miss?) and never get discouraged if you fall behind Texas A&M or Arkansas.

    • I was thinking the loss was the 2008 GT game, but that was only a 28-12 halftime lead spoiled by a 26-0 run in the 3rd quarter. I hate that game. I sat right behind four GT fans. Stafford threw for 400+ and 5 TD’s. MoMass had 180 yds and 3 TDs. The defense quit that day. 450+ yards rushing, a pair of rushes over 60 yds, and the unveiling of the new tackling style made popular in WillieMart’s later years: trying to shoulder nudge the ball carrier out of bounds. And that wasn’t the worst blown lead loss UGA has had over the past decade.

If you think about it, Tech only wins when we do something historically bad, be it fumbling twice on the 1-yard line (2014) or abandoning every defensive fundamental (2008). It’s a similar story with Auburn, which needs either flukes and miracles (2005, 2013) or unparalleled talent (2004, 2010) to win.

So does Lawrence photo mean that Kirby’s particular flavor of The Process™ is confirmed to be The Plan™? Eason’s now-deleted tweet the morning that the starter was named had something to do with “trust the plan”.

  4. Canning your DC after the first week gives off a ton of confidence in the head coach.

Side note: Here’s a shameless plug of my podcast. We talk a lot of UGA-UNC as well as some other stuff from the weekend.

I was curious so looked up Smith (ULL DC) salary. He’s getting his full pay for the year. ULL was paying him $70,000/year. He had been fired from AU where he made >$300,000/year by Muschamp. So, ULL was getting a discount. Maybe Smith’s Auburn contract was up and they were paying him more this year? Anyway, interesting stuff.

  8. I would like to add a viand on today’s buffet, Tebow/Teabug/Teabag had signed to play in the NY Mets minor league. LOL, I guess football is just too fast for him.

Since Nicholls has not played a game yet and we don’t have previous game film of them to watch to prepare…will Kirby call the Nicholls’ coach and request some practice film? Doesn’t hurt to ask.
