I can’t speak for Bigshot, but just because someone praises Fromm doesn’t necessarily mean they’re shitting on Eason.

I don’t know that he outworked Eason. I do know he was prepared enough in a short period of time to do what was needed to help the team be successful. Anyone sitting in the stadium who tells you their pucker factor didn’t go up when Eason limped off is a liar.
But he was ready. I hoped (and hope) the best for JE especially because of the beating he took in 2016, but I agree with CKS and Crash Davis…….

I have no problem with how the situation was handled. By the time Eason was healthy there was no reason to mess with what had been working. I did find the overpraise of Fromm and downgrading of Eason annoying when it all started. And some still feel the need to shit on Eason.

I got your point, was agreeing. A lot of folks on here have very short memories. My recollection of Eason will always be a skinny kid running for his life, and still throwing a 60+ dart to make the UT “Orangeholes” all look like someone had just done a drive-by on their coon dog pen right there on national TV.
For that, He will forever be a DGD to me.

Don’t interpret it that way at all. The old adage “luck is when preparation meets opportunity” applies here. Fromm stepped into his role and and what the coaches saw in practice before and during games did not give them reason to pull Fromm. Why does supporting the success of one mean you are dissing the other to so many on this site? Not just in this particular situation, but we tear really good people down to make points for some reason.
Eason had a lot of potential, much more than we probably saw in his brief stay in Athens, but I never saw that materialize on the field, except in flashes. He was a great Dawg, and stayed strong in his support after being kept on the sidelines, but we will never know if he would have ever made that next step in his sophomore season. The coaches were in that position to know where he stood and stayed with Fromm. That may not be video evidence, but it is telling. One thing for sure, Fromm didn’t do anything to lose the job once he got it. While I have a hard time believing we would have done as well in 2017 with Eason as the QB, it is just my opinion. Why argue it, no way possible
I am not related to one, or the other, so I don’t care which jersey leads us as our QB. Too many get personal about these decisions; I just want our guys to succeed and represent us well. They should always get their chance, in this case both did get that chance. My preference has nothing to do with “reported” work ethic, just results. I hope Eason succeeds spectacularly at UW, and I hope Fromm continues to win at UGA. But if Fields is the best option in the coaches’ minds, and gets it done on the field, I will support him just as I did Eason and Fromm the prior two seasons. We are blessed to have such talented options, have seen anything quite like it at the QB position.

I’m not sure why you’re trying to reinterpret it considering he more or less confirms my interpretation with his response to Illini. I don’t care who the QB is. I’ve just found the people shitting on Eason annoying from the start.

I would find them so as well, what I said was I haven’t seen anyone “shitting on Eason”. Some take anything less than full “all in” as being anti-Eason, I just don’t see it that way. Are some skeptical we would have seen a much better Eason? Yes, some are but no one was cheap shotting him, or blatantly rooting against him, from what I read. As stated before, none of us will ever know. I do know I liked what I saw from the QB position in 2018. Eason could possibly have been as good, but I will take the bird in the hand and wish all well.

I wasn’t taking a shot at Eason. I just assumed since you were so sensitive about it you had to be a relative(joking). I do know what my eyes saw and as someone else said the stadium was amped up when Fromm came in and had success.

Is there any doubt left that UGA has all the ingredients for a natty or 2 or 3? The coach, the QBs, the runners, the receivers, both lines, kicking, special teams, defense, etc. are all there with Kirby stirring the mix. We will win. Fromm,s attitude and work ethic will be contagious. I never thought I’d live to see this at UGA. Great time to be alive and be a part of this.

People are making it sound like Eason was goofing off when he went to Steve Clarkson’s Quarterback Retreat. Fromm won the job but Eason was a very viable option who we did not get to see if he had progressed. Hope he does well in the future.

They are similar talents but when it comes to the “it” factor under pressure there is no comparison. Fromm is ahead of where Murray was in terms of intangibles with a year less of prep.
If I had a complaint about Fromm it’s that he misses too many easy ones. On the tough ones, he’s money. My complaint with Murray was he got big eyed and succumbed to the pressure of the big moment. Fromm seems to thrive on the big stage.
Pretty sure Fromm throws left in the dome in 2012. Just sayin’.

Very similar seasons really. One big road game loss and a close loss to the eventual champ. 11 probably out performed Fromm vs. Alabama and Fromm played a bit better vs. Auburn than Murray did @ USC.
One big difference is that Murray was in year four with the program.
Does the 2012 Bama game change with a slightly better defense? Maybe. Defense wasn’t a huge liability in 2012. We did have Jarvis and Tree. Lots of teams were gonna get mauled by their OL that year.
Of course, Aaron had a better OL in 2012 than Fromm had in 2017. So it kinda evens out.
Here’s the key for me. 11’s redshirt freshman year was good, not great.
Fromm’s true freshman year was the best in college football history. The kid is the Herschel of QB’s. No, not as awe inspiring to be sure but for that position it was remarkable. True freshman qbs don’t play like that. Never have.
If he improves on that performance and starts making all the easy plays too, he’ll make David Greene pale in comparison in the stats that matter: W’s and trophies. Fromm has a Rose Bowl trophy and a SEC championship. At this point in his career, Aaron hadn’t taken off the baseball cap yet.

Even comparing each of their 1st seasons isn’t exactly apples to apples. Murray probably didn’t have as much talent around him in his 1st year as Fromm did. It was Grantham’s first year as DC, changing from a 4-3 to 3-4 scheme. Plus AJ Green being suspended those first 4 games didn’t help.
Regardless, there’s a lot to love about both of those #11’s.

I doubt you will be able to compare Murray and Fromm even if Fromm stays 4 years. What the QBs are asked to do is not the same. UGA is running an offense that eats up clock with 4 and 5 minute drives on the ground. Bobo depended on an explosive plays in the air to get a scoring drive going when facing equal competition.

That is very true. Our offense before could be called “qb-centric.” Now it’s almost “qb-superfluous.”
Which is a very good approach if you can pull it off. The key to what Saban has done and thus the key to copying it, is that you have to have great football players. You have to be much better at most positions than your opponent and hope they don’t have great qb/wr combos because that becomes about the only pathway to losing, unless your playing you’re mirror image like on 1/8/18. Then all of a sudden playmakers can make the difference.
I can’t wait to see what it looks like once we actually have a decent OL.

The OL was darn good and looking to improve. QB is underrated under Bama’s system. Bama doesn’t produce NFL 1st rounders at QB but they also make very few errors, have a good arm and must still read a defense.
Fromm in a very run oriented offense nearly matched Murray’s stats his Freshman year.

Both are very good college QBs and UGA is moving in the direction to collect more rings.

Raekwon Davis and DeRon Payne abused those boys. It was sad.
If they were capable of getting any kind of push, we would have blown them out. When Wilson, Hill, Sayler and Mays get going, it won’t look like that anymore.

Nick Chubb getting 27 yards on 18 carries vs. Alabama is an indictment of your “darn good” OL.
27 yards on 11 carries vs. auburn ain’t much better.
They did fine against DL’s that sucked and/or were part of teams that couldn’t keep their offense on the field.
We played three legit teams last year. Auburn twice, ND and Alabama. Nick hadn’t zero 100 yard days against them. In those 4 games Nick averaged 3.5 yards a carry. Not good enough.

Honestly, I simultaneously rolled my eyes as cringed at the “rest on laurels” bit. I have no doubt that there are guys who work every bit as hard as him and still went to the beach. It’s dangerous to be pushing the god-like status on a guy with 1 year under his belt and the “no days off” mantra is farce. It nearly always catches up to you. Gotta have balance.
