Don’t forget to tape the game.

Knowing how some of you feel about her, this should really goose you into coming to Athens this Saturday.

Hey, at least it’s not the Ocho.

    Nah, too hot. Mute button.

Makes me really long for the days you could mute the TV and let Munson call the game on the radio…

Has anyone figured out how to stream Scott Howard online? With DVR, it wouldn’t be hard to sync.

But it’s either that or mute. I’d rather list to nails on a chalkboard than listen to that lady’s voice. Not to mention her actual analysis is worse than your average 5th grader’s.

Not sure if Howard or Moins is worse to be honest.

Honestly, I’d rather listen to Mowins over Howard any day.

Every season I’ve been posting this solution. DVR the game. Pause on opening kickoff just as toe is about to meet leather. Listening to the UGA broadcast on the Bulldog app or TuneIn app, just wait for crowd cheer of “Gooo Dawgs! Sic’em!” and hit play on the DVR at “Dawgs!”.

This worked fine until I moved further west. Now the radio app broadcast is ahead of the live tv broadcast. I think TuneIn radio allows you to pause, but I don’t think the Bulldog app does. Will have to see if game is on any of the Sirius/XM channels which you can pause as well.

Anyone with a better work around than this, please let us know. For all of Scott Howard’s yelling, he’s still a homer and you get more sideline info.

You ever have issues with the Bulldog app or TuneIn app? I was using the Tunein website and it kept going in & out. Or just kept going back 10 seconds on repeat or lagging for a few seconds. Just enough to screw up the sync.

Let me know what your experiences were. I’ll keep playing around with it. I just wish WSB would be able to stream their stuff on their own website. Silly contract/rules.

        • I couldn’t get either one to work for me last week, but I’m in Paris, so might not have been their fault. Usually, I find the Tune-in app works a little better. I’ve had nothing but trouble with the georgiadogs site.

TuneIn wasn’t working for me either, last Saturday. Haven’t had problems before. Scott should be on XM channel 190(?) this week since we’re at home, I’ll try that if TuneIn doesn’t work this week, but last season TuneIn was sync-able every time.

The Bulldog app was buggy when it first came out a few years ago, but for at least the last 2 seasons it’s always worked fine for me. TuneIn seems to have a lot of issues in my very limited experience. I did have some trouble last weekend with the TuneIn app, but I was trying to pause and get the sync to work and gave up since we scored 14 so quickly.

If true about being on XM this week, I’ll report on how that works.

  5. While cares? She will give a fine commentary on the game. This woman is not stupid and to think otherwise is to scratch your Cro-Magnon nuts and wish nothing had ever changed. She us a fine analyst and a good commentator. Grow up. CFB can only be better if females love it, slam beers to it and lose their damn minds when the home team wins! Embrace them.

I respectfully disagree with your assessment of Beth Mowins, monti. I do not question that Ms. Mowins is intelligent in the abstract sense or that she is perfunctorily prepared (i.e. knowing the names of the coaches and players) for the analysis that she gives although that analysis is usually pretty superficial. While I agree with you that it would be better for the sport if more female viewers would embrace the game of football, getting more female broadcasters is not necessarily the answer. Getting BETTER female broadcasters MAY BE the answer, but there is no guarantee of that bringing more female viewers to watch either. Sports broadcasters need to be hired and promoted based on merit not gender. Lord knows we have had plenty of bad male sports broadcasters, too, some of whom have risen to the top of the profession (cough…Brent Musburger…cough, cough). But in the meantime we are left to suffer through Beth Mowins’ games for whatever reason. Beth Mowins’ problem is she tries too hard to sound like a man–ridiculously so. First, she speaks in an artificially low voice apparently attempting to mimic a man’s voice. Listen also to the inflection of her voice as she describes a play, rising and lowering, spitting out words in staccato-like fashion with a crescendo at the end of each sentence. It’s an assault on the ears–actually painful. Male sports broadcasters don’t do that, at least not any that make it to television. No, if anything Beth Mowins isn’t disliked as a broadcaster because she is a woman. She is disliked as a sports broadcaster because she is a bad sports broadcaster.

I’ve gotten to where she doesn’t bug me as much as she used to. Seems appropriate for a game against Murray State.

Is it possible that we just can’t stand her voice and that’s all it is?

Bingo. Her voice is awful. But isn’t having a good voice a prerequisite for being a broadcaster on TV? Sort of like being able to hit the target with a rifle bullet is a prerequisite for being a sharpshooter in the military? Or being able to catch a football is a prerequisite for being a receiver in football? Or being able to shoot a low score in golf is a prerequisite for being a professional golfer? How’d she get this job in the first place? It’s like hiring a pilot who is a blind person. She doesn’t have the (in this case verbal) skill to do the job.

You are out of your mind. She is not a fine analyst, nor a good commentator. And most importantly, her voice is atrocious.

This has nothing to do with females loving/not loving CFB, nor this lady’s gender. It has to do with her talent & skill. Appears I’m not the one who needs to grow up.

Why did you automatically assume the worst from the responses and play the sexism card? Couldn’t it simply come down to thinking someone has a good broadcasting voice? Hell, there are plenty of male broadcasters whom I too would rather not call a UGA game, including talent who typically get assigned to top games. Sean McDonough immediately comes to mind there. I’ve also shared my view of our own Scott Howard on numerous occasions too (hint – I think he’s borderline terrible).

OH NO! No no no no no no no no no! It’s her irritating voice! Oh geez! Why oh why, ESPN? That’s right – you hate UGA, so it makes sense. Last year she stopped talking about GA during the game and couldn’t stop talking about AL. Mute button it is.

Replace Beth with Laura Rutledge and no one would complain. Laura is a woman and her voice doesn’t bother anyone plus she knows what she’s talking about, unlike Beth.

I tape every game. That way I can wait 45 minutes or so before viewing then zip through the commercials and drivel. Amazing to watch a complete game in a little over an hour.

I watched some of the Bethune Cookman-Jackson State game. The announcer was Tiffany Greene. Excellent voice, knowledgeable. Just a pleasant commentary. She should be in the top tier of ESPN announcers. On the other hand, even my wife won’t listen to Moins.

Shifting the topic slightly, I thought Ryan Leaf was pretty good on color commentary on the Vols game, especially considering it was his first game in the booth.
