Check out where Georgia is ranked here.
“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Any system where UGA is below FSU is broken.
That is laughably bad

Or, alternately, it might just be a dumbass.

I would like for whoever programmed that to explain to me how Fresno State is ranked above the Dawgs….no wins and a worse SOS.

46? What on earth.

Isn’t sagarin the stuff women used to put in coffee instead of sugar and which tasted bad and caused cancer?

I Love It! I’d love to come out of this poll’s obscurity and win an SEC and National Championship to negate it’s legitimacy.

Sagarin is one of those assholes who is educated way beyond their intelligence.

It has to be some type of mathematical error. Without oversight this is how the machines will rise up.

Meh, I’m not too worried about Sagarin’s computer “turning smart”.

On January 13.2020 Sagarins computer became self aware, and threw itself into the rubbish bin……

I think I found the problem. If I am reading it right, the computer is rating Georgia’s schedule as the 216th most difficult in the country.
Maybe that’s just 216th most difficult “so far”, and this will all adjust itself as we go along.

It’s a nice theory. Too bad for it that TCU is ranked higher.

Then I revert to my original position that Sagarin’s computer is just a dumbass.

Six of the teams ranked above us don’t even have a win over an FBS team yet. And two of those (Miami and Fresno) don’t have any wins period. I hated the computer rankings all throughout the BCS era and I sure don’t hate ’em any less now.

I’d be embarrassed to even publish that.

He sure went to a lot of trouble for such a bullshit result.

216th most difficult schedule? Are there 216 teams with schedules? How many teams are in Division One (Or FCS or whatever its called these days)?

He rates 256 teams in the linked chart.

Hey, remember that post a week or two ago talking about how the BCS might have been better than the playoff selection committee? Good times….

Once the highest and lowest computer rankings were thrown out of the computer composite … yes, it was better.

I think Sagarin must have been the guy sitting in front of us yesterday. He, his wife, and his kids all looked, sounded, and acted like people who had read about college football and decided they thought they would use yesterday as an opportunity to go and see first hand what it was all about.

WTF? He must be butthurt over something GA did to him because that rating makes no sense whatsoever.

He has us rated above only 3 SEC teams, UT, Vandy and Arkansas, lol.

Sagarin, I’ll take UGA +13.5 right now.

I’m not going to pretend that this ranking makes any sense, but, from a purely numerical perspective, our team hasn’t earned a top 5 ranking yet. It’s easy to see the potential and to be excited that we may have a top 5 team, but there isn’t any proof of it yet.

So has Bama earned anything? They played the Vandy of the Almost Competitive Conference and a rent-a-win baby seal clubbing.

Yeah, you missed the giant disqualifier? I know its bullshit. I also know that our team hasn’t done anything of note yet. Winning a Vanderbilt game was awesome, I loved it. Winning a game against Murray, with all the points and great things like Zeus and George, was awesome. They haven’t beaten a ranked team yet and they look wonderful to me.

I think we’ve demonstrated as much as Bama and anOSU. That’s my only point.
Given your qualifier, you would be saying Clemson and LSU are the only teams worthy of their ranking.

Said earlier this week, at this point of the year is more about how valid the inputs are. In other words, it is an individual’s own subjective biases. Sagarin is always horrible at the beginning of the season because of this, it gets better when the computer gets enough interactions between teams.
I never look at the computer power polls until at least 6 weeks in, and even then it will not have recovered from all the biased “garbage in”. Steele’s will be better because he actually knows the game, and keeps up with injuries, talent, coaches, etc. Sagarin is just a nerd, have no idea what he knows about football, or what his biases may be.

Totally unlike climate change, guy. And it’s not GTP’s poll either…

dont you guys remember sagarin?
He is indeed a pencil-neck asshole, a Pac-10 west coast nerd whose computer has a built-in metric to combat what he calls the “east coast bias” or the anti-west bias. AND he has always been anti-Dawg as well.
The sad thing is that under the old BCS format, his computer was one of the ones that they used to set the rankings! No joke!

This is how we wound up with a committee.
But I’m very curious to see the explanation.

This is a shock? Again, in 04, at the end of the regular season, Sagarin had USC ranked behind Miami. Not Miami from Coral Gables, but rather that Miami from the MAC. USC with that crew they had. It is a joke and it is why the BCS rating computers were laughable.

Obviously a glitch in programming somewhere.

I agree totally but after Texas lost to the LSUer’s, damn that was physical. Then the adores get butt humped by Purdue…… Boilermakers…… I have no respect for the Golden Domers but if the Dawgs flinch one quarter. The polls wanna drop our ass out of the Top 5 ! My inner Larry Munson says I didn’t mean to beg but I got too. Them computers ain’t the ones that got us landing on the moon or was that a total fabrication as many still believe. Like say the old BCS format but with a committee having to recluse themself over numerous votes and what happens if LSU beats the trunks off the elephants and we fool around and drop one say to the Barn or A and Mer’s and get beat in the SEC championship and they take the elephants over the Dawgs. I do believe there are powers, theory, that don’t want the Dawgs there. How many bad, atrocious bad calls can be made against a team in 2 years. Them puters’ and committee is gonna have the Dawgs rub their noses in a dog pile before we end up in the Top 4. Just sayin they ain’t a inch of error the Dawgs can stand and be a committee Daisy.
