“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
BOOM! Doesn’t get any clearer than that.

The crux of the matter boiled down to the fact that they let everybody cheat, not just athletes. Thus, the athletes did not receive a benefit unavailable to the average student. So when they say “[w]e embrace an unwavering commitment to excellence as one of the world’s great research universities” what they really mean is “everybody gets to cheat!”

When a freakin’ ladder company (Werner), writes a 7-figure check to the NCAA yearly to be the official ladder of the NCAA (and hence has it’s ladder prominently displayed/used to cut down the nets at the NCAA basketball tournament), you know damn well it’s all about economics, not academics. Hell, they even use another corporate sponsor – Fiskars – to supply the orange scissors to actually cut down the nets with.

I don’t have a problem with the schools making money off sports entertainment. i have a problem with them forming a cartel in order to not pay the employees.
