    When a freakin’ ladder company (Werner), writes a 7-figure check to the NCAA yearly to be the official ladder of the NCAA (and hence has it’s ladder prominently displayed/used to cut down the nets at the NCAA basketball tournament), you know damn well it’s all about economics, not academics. Hell, they even use another corporate sponsor – Fiskars – to supply the orange scissors to actually cut down the nets with.

    I don’t have a problem with the schools making money off sports entertainment. i have a problem with them forming a cartel in order to not pay the employees.
