Of @HerringMalik 224 pass rush snaps, 39 were on 3rd/4th down.
The only player in the FBS with a higher pass rush grade on late downs with at least that many pass rush snaps last season — No. 2 overall pick Chase Young.https://t.co/cHF3e2UGNI https://t.co/ur4hl61sMp

Is Herring the least heralded great player in the SEC?
Herring is quick and good sized. He and #13 are the answers to the havoc question. Throw in Monty Rice, Adam Anderson, Nakobe Dean and Jermaine Johnson. I need to take a cold shower now.

He is a big man. And after one game last year (Florida?) there was a short video going around of him doing cartwheels and flips in his pads after the game

If he is unheralded now he won’t be after this season.

Is he a great player? or is he a good player that was smart enough to maximize his coaching? I haven’t seen high draft pick athleticism out of him on the field, but executing your assignment with good technique and good decision making is how you get a high PFF grade.

So you can’t be a great college player unless you project as a high NFL draft pick? Interesting…

Malik Herring would be luck to be picked on the second day of the draft in 2021 if he gets drafted at all.
But the national CFB media along with FU and Tenn fans tell us Kirby doesn’t and can’t develop football players.
Can someone make those two statements make sense together, because I’m having a helluva time doing it.

Malik’s a great college player and a Damn Good Dawg. So was Justin Houston, who was taken in the fourth round of his draft. If you think Malik is going in the first three rounds of the draft, or honestly, even in the fourth round, you’re pumping sunshine. He may play himself into the fourth round. Maybe even in the third round. He’s not there right now, though.

It’ll be interesting to see what he does with more playing time.
