A trade off I can live with

If, in fact, the SEC does adopt a 10-game all-conference schedule, Dellenger speculates what the additions for each school might be:

I know some of you would disagree, but losing an opportunity to pound Georgia Tech sucks for me.  That being said, if that game is sacrificed in service to Florida losing the one real advantage it has over Georgia this season, that’s a price I’m prepared to accept.

Needless to say, the Gators having to take on Alabama is going over well with the usual suspects.  I don’t understand the attitude.  I thought they had the best quarterback and the best offensive playcaller in the SEC.  Playing the Tide should be no sweat, amirite?

I know I’m giving off them negative waves, but considering the current infection and death rates, is a 10 game conference schedule any more likely than the regular schedule?

  2. Do those Handbag idiots realize it would just be the next 2 rotating opponents?

If it’s 9+1, they’re likely getting the Tide while we get Arkansas.

    • Two things here…it is now obvious FU wants no part of adding the bammers to their little sisters of the cupcake football schedule this 2020 season (?) #FTMF…..true, i don’t want to play the bammers once or twice every season (that is, what that is), until UGA is on the right side of the score board against the team from alabamia, UGA can’t say they are getting anywhere special….(would be memorable, should a special teams play be the winner against the bammers )

So we open with Bama in Tuscaloosa?

The most UGA/SEC thing ever would be for us to play TAMU at their place, finally and none of us could go.

Yeah UF fans should be ecstatic. This pits the 2 greatest head coaches in SEC history against each other. Plus, UF was supposed to run the table to a national title this year anyway. Who they play in the regular season is just an administrative issue.

    For What it’s Worth:
Even with no SEC football at all. These are TOP TEN Hogtown Comments
    1) We have been screwed since 84’
    2) Should not have to play Bama for 2 years
    3) UG getting a schedule soft AF
Goodness rumors of a schedule change has chapped their scaled asses

With the ACC coming out with a 10+1 schedule, as Andy Staples said it’s a shot across the SEC bow. I expect the SEC to reciprocate with a 10+1 schedule as well.

Given that, Floriduh’s looking at 7-4 this season. Methinks the media-made myth of Sideshow Dan the Clown as some kind of genius will FINALLY take the hit it deserves after this season.

I can’t help but LOL. It’s almost worth not getting to get more kicks in on tech while they’re so low. I have to say, I want to get to 9 wins in a row on them about as bad as anything else I want related to Georgia football.

There’s a trivia question for you: what do you want the most?

9+ in a row vs tech
Beat UF until they fire Mullen
    Beat Bama

    Ha.

Bonus: not just 9 in a row v Tech but #9 to be 223-0

    • I want The Drought thrown on the ash heap of history. I want to put a Florida-Kentucky type of streak up against them. I want them to get so tired of the annual @$$ whippings that they drop to play Kennesaw State every year as an FCS member.

      My dream list would be
      1) Beat Bama 2x in one season
      2) Dominate Florida in such a way as to make them hire Derek Dooley or Bobo after having fired Mullen for Kidding or Charlie Weiss’ son (I think they still have his Dad’s cooler)
      3) Beat Tech 9x in a row and so that they replaced us with Georgia Southern
      4) Cam gets elected Governor of Georgia and his first act after the inevitable scandal is he admits how much $ Auburn gave him
      5) Beat Urban Meyer and USC in the National Championship game as the confetti falls the camera catch Mark Richt in one of the boxes giving Urbs a double bird.

  11. Question in thinking this through: If we condense the schedule for logistics in order to deal with emerging threats from the virus, doesn’t that mean that the schedule itself needs pretty wild wild west type flexibility, even on the point of dates ?

Not sure if this makes sense, it just seems that in order to make good on the flexibility, you’d almost have to have teams ready to play at the drop of a hat. Otherwise, it would seem that a traditional “calendaring” of the schedule runs the risk of burning through “makeup” dates with perfectly healthy teams, only to maybe run out said cushion down the road. In other words, why continue to take a bunch of time off if everyone on Team X and Team Y are healthy and uninfected, only to have something pop up 14 days later when it’s time to actually play.

    • I almost think we have to have a backup plan if teams can’t go. Ideally, you’d always have an even number of teams that have to cancel and then maybe those left at the altar can play instead ? Dunno, just think for flexibility to really work it has to actually be flexible—maybe we learn on Wednesday that we’re actually playing Texas A&M instead of Arkansas or something wild. Could that be done ? I don’t think it’s impossible since I’ve long since believed there will be no fans at these places.

Since we are the big dog conference in cfb, i recommend a bold scheduling option…
Option 1 – play 10 game schedule as detailed with sec champ game between east and west winners
Option 2 – play every team in the sec with the best record as champ
Option 3 – ask Texas and OKie to join SEC
play 4 division games with division champs to play in semi final and then those winners play in the champ game…
    Division games:
Div 1 = UGA, Aub, SC, Vandy
    Div 2 = Bama, A&M, TN, Ark
Div 3 = LSU, FL, Ole Miss, MSU
Div 4 = OK, TX, KY, Mizz

    semifinal games:
Div 1 plays Div 3 = UGA vs LSu
Div 2 plays Div 4 = Bama Vs OK

    Sec champ game:
    UGA (37) vs Bama (27)
