The depth, she is deep.

Jake Rowe posts his latest projected depth charts for the offense and defense, and, boy, the talent level is ridonkulous.  Are there any concerns?  Well, maybe a few:

  • “Hill is the starter at this spot and still has a few kinks to work out. He has to get his snapping issues under control because high snaps killed a handful of Georgia drives a season ago.”
  • “Davis is Georgia’s alpha at this position and it’s not even close. This is probably one of the bigger areas of concern for Georgia going into the 2020 season because a year ago it was Davis and a fifth-year senior in Michael Barnett.”
  • “The loss of Divaad Wilson could prove to be significant because UGA lost some depth here.”
  • “There isn’t a ton of depth behind [LeCounte] or at the other safety position, though.”

Any of that particularly worrisome to you?

Are you kidding? I’m a worry wart. ANY chink in the armor worries me. We have to stay healthy in those areas.

  2. Hill does need to improve, and we need depth behind Davis. Other than that, this defense should be dominant.

I’d cross train Campbell at FS. I’m thinking it will help get his eyes on the football to inverse the number of pass interference calls vs interceptions.

The communication and execution of combo blocks with the guards is a worry with Hill.

I would be more concerned about secondary depth if Burrow and Tua were on the schedule. Given the offenses that exist in 2020, I don’t see a lot of opportunities against this defense.

I’m in the not concerned group. We have as much or more depth across the roster than 99% of the CFB world.

  6. I’m really concerned if UGA goes down. Not aware of any replacement w/experience. And what if Scott Howard were to miss a game or two. Where do we turn?

This is what is going to happen: we’re going to get four games in, Georgia is going to win them all, then there will be a huge outbreak and the season will fizzle… We’re going to beat Bama and it won’t matter. Most Georgia outcome ever.

This year we have Davis and 5th year senior Rochester. And a bit more depth with youngsters Mitchell and Stackhouse. So I’d call this as good, perhaps better, than 2019.
