Mark Schlabach, gappin’

I guess he’s not buying the Barrett Sallee narrative.

3. Georgia wins the SEC East: With quarterback Jake Fromm and four starting offensive linemen departing, Florida believes it has closed the gap on Georgia. Not so fast. Kirby Smart looks pretty … well, smart after signing former Southern California quarterback JT Daniels as a security blanket in May. Expected starter Jamie Newman, a graduate transfer from Wake Forest, opted out last week. The Bulldogs have recruited offensive linemen as well as any team in the FBS, and wide receiver George Pickens is back after a stellar freshman campaign. Georgia’s defense should be as good as it was a year ago, and if the Bulldogs get anything more from their sputtering offense under new coordinator Todd Monken, they will beat the Gators in Jacksonville and win their fourth straight SEC East title.

After last year’s 12 win season soured by puny offense I’d like to see this year’s Dawgs stretch the lead early. Give the starters some rest and the young Pups some valuable experience. Something resembling the ’17 Florida and Tennessee games. Call it ”The Dawgs Revenge Tour 2: The Beatdowns”.
    FATMF! All of ’em.

No joke. Someone (I think the Senator) says 2007 was their favorite year, but when I need uplifting, I dial up a 2017 game; not regular season Auburn of course, but all the others – even the game against Bama have the team playing great and looking dominant.

  5. Damn straight. You cannot honestly assess the situation without taking a serious look at the last few years of recruiting. I hear pundits on the radio hemming and hawing about Trask being the difference. So you have an experienced above average (arguably) QB, and that is going to make up for the fact that Georgia is better and deeper in just about every other position on the field. Even Randy Mac suffers from the hangover of the 90’s and is warning about an imminent loss to Gators because something something quarterback. I know taking a close look at recruiting is boring, but try and pay a little attention?
