Yeah, this is going well.
Meaningless games on December 19th? That’s bordering on the farcical. Or at least it would be if subsequent events don’t overtake this.
COVID don’t care about your feelings, Greg Sankey.

NEWS | The Alabama at LSU and Texas A&M at Tennessee FB games of Nov. 14 are postponed due to positive tests, contact tracing & subsequent quarantine of individuals within the LSU and A&M FB programs.
— Southeastern Conference (@SEC) November 10, 2020
SEC: "Because LSU has a game tentatively scheduled for December 12, the opportunity to reschedule the Alabama at LSU game will need to be evaluated. The rescheduling of games on the remaining SEC football schedule may include December 19 as a playing date."

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23

They are all meaningless now Except FL and Bama

Which games get played depends on the math for the SEC championship game. It will be interesting if sankey has to pick FU or bama to play LSU on 12/12 if both are in the championship game.

You can’t use 12/19 in this scenario. LSU’s two opponents are Alabama and Florida and they already have a game on 12/19. Would they end up giving a different East team to LSU on that day just to get a game in? What if Georgia took Florida’s place? To piss you off just a little more, what if Florida lost one of their games before 12/12 and got to dodge LSU?

“Dodge” LSU?

If we don’t have a game cancelled/postponed, I don’t see how the SEC makes us play an 11th regular season game, so someone else can get to 10. If I were Kirby, I would say, “Hell, no, I’m not going to give up a week of recruiting because we kept everyone healthy throughout the season.”

Of course, the AD will tell him to shut up if there’s a little extra cash from the TV contract if we played an extra game.

Agree, that would be right on the cusp of early signing day.
But another way to look at the remaining games is as scrimmages to teach & evaluate next year’s team and get some younguns/backups playing time.
But I’m clueless about this year’s redshirt rule. Does ANYONE who wants to return get the okay for another season? Does it apply to seniors?

They already dodged Bama due to SEC office logic

That made me lol. About 28 years ago that was the standard response to weekends of debauchery. Gym Dawgs and a pissed off Suzanne.

We should start getting the chinese virus and start cancelling. This week is as good as any.

There’s no way Saban will allow UF have a bye week to get ready for the SECCG while his team has to play a meaningless game.

Cancel the rest of the season and play the SECC in December.

This is so dumb. You do realize we have 2 home games left that would have to be refunded. When in doubt, follow the money.

Imagine calling the smart and safe thing to do dumb. Jfc. Lol! And now Georgia-Missouri is postponed, too.

I’m sure you would be saying the same thing if we were undefeated right now. I’m purely looking at the economic reality … I don’t care at this point if they play or not.

Of course I’d be conflicted but my suggestion allows the programs still playing for something to do so, while giving a decent break to maybe avoid further Covid issues.
