“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
I wonder if Cade Mays and family are having second thoughts?

No, because Pinky is back in the good graces of the Knoxville crowd.

Somehow I think the whole Mays family didn’t see this coming last year.

Yeah, I’m wondering how much draft money the transfer cost him?

How many recruits thank the Athletic Director?

Why would a blue chip TE decommit from Tennessee? Look up in the booth to see the guy calling the plays and how he wasted our tight end talent.

I don’t think mom and dad are having 2nd thoughts. Pretty clear that somewhere in all of this a pay day was involved. But you have to think that the kid went from playing in an organization that was buttoned up from top to bottom to whatever that is they have going on in Knoxville now and wonders?
And he’s a competitor; 2 losses on a team that will likely play in a major bowl ‘again’ vrs. playing with a team that will likely have more 7 losses? No, the grass isn’t greener in Knoxville. Really dangerous, but not greener. His parents wanted them (brothers) to play together. I didn’t watch a ton of UT football, but did the younger Mays get on the field? Would he have gotten on the field more if Cade stays at Georgia?
I’ve been pretty vocal about leaving the kid alone, because of how the UT crowd treated him when spurned UT for UGA and because I’ve felt that this was his parents a lot more than Cade. And outside of the Baylor game, I thought he played hard – really hard. And all should remember, when that garbage story came out that Georgia forced him to play after having wisdom teeth removed – he debunked it rather quickly. A lesser person would have left that out there just to stick it to his old team.
There is the old saying, “you reap what you sow”; well in some cases “you reap what your parents sow”. On the bright side, he has seen good and bad. Something he can learn from when he gets to the NFL. Truly hope this move didn’t hurt his ability to make money. He’s been penalized enough from others decisions – time for him to look after himself.

Good post. I try to leave the kids alone besides the occasional dumbass arrest comment (Drunk Baker Mayfield getting run down and tackled by the cop in full gear was really funny) but booster parents are fair game.

The real question is, who will Tennessee’s next AD be? Fulmer’s plan to return to HC is nearly complete.

Butch is a much better HC than Pruitt.
Pruitt is a marginally better recruiter than Butch.
Both are their own worst enemies under pressure with a microphone in their face.
I want Vandy to hire Butch and see him consistently beat UT.
