The opposite of an Envy and Jealousy post

C’mon, admit it.  You’re dying to know Mr. Conventional Wisdom’s take on Georgia’s opener.

This is a huge opening game as both teams have national championship aspirations. The winner gets a leg up. The loser can still get back in the race.

Okay, maybe not.

To be fair, there’s an art to getting notoriety and compensation for stating things that make everyone happy and nod at the same time.

…while also not doing any actual work.

It’s work, it’s just not hard work. There’s LOTS of professions where the pay gets higher and the work gets crappier the farther you go/older you get.

By the way, I agree with everyone’s take here. It’s lazy. But not so sure if it continues to deserve attention from the Senator. Water wet and all.

I’m confused. It’s lazy, but it’s still work?
I see no effort in what Barnhart does, sorry.

Are you compensated for something? I assume yes. Is it always incisive or perfectly done? My guess is no. Barnhart makes a nice living making writing obvious observations. Whether you like what he does or not doesn’t mean what he does for compensation isn’t STILL work, i.e., a job.

I’m talking about working, and you’re talking about a job. I’ve seen a lot of jobs that require no work. Tony’s is one.

He should have held some of that back and dished a little at a time. It’s a long way to kickoff.

Whad’ya expect from a former beat writer at that lyin’ Atlanta newspaper with a janky degree from UGA?

Knowing that Capt.Tony of the S.S.Obvious has a worldly mindset which navigates around the intrigue and darkness that is college football, his innate ability to espouse such in a straight forward manner for the consumption of the very day man (500 words or less) has him sailing in uncharted waters, miles ahead of the competition…

And they pay him money for that analysis. Should I be embarrassed to hold a degree from the same college at UGA as him because he is so bad as his job or proud that he has risen to such a level that he is well-paid for a role for which he has so little passion and work ethic.

He went on to say “Georgia and Clemson both have football teams. Football is a game where the winner has the most points at the end. Fans of football teams prefer winning over losing. We’ll know more about which fanbase is happier after the game.”

Eh, I’d rather laugh at Tony than listen to Tebow on Saturday morning. Glad he’s gone.

  9. I swear Tony probably doesn’t believe water is wet.

Didn’t you know he broke a lamp in a motel Tallahassee when “Run, Lindsay!” happened and didn’t have to pay for it because the manager was a Nole fan?

I’d argue that there is nothing for the loser to get back into, they are not going to be out of anything.
