The schedules, they aren’t strong.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Absolutely damn right. The ACC is shit.

I wonder where Clemson’s SOS would fall if they weren’t opening with us…

I don’t think they’d crack the top 100.

I wonder where it would fall if Georgia’s conference CCG opponent is factored in. (hoping we get there) . And how far Clemson’s would plummet.

6 spots.

It’s not like we plan it that way. Just wait until Bama is put in the East then it will soar.

It’s not who you open with..it’s who you close with.
For the SEC, both teams in the championship game will face a juggernaut.
For Clemmons, they can send their second team and still name the score.
If Georgia can beat Clemson, they should have no path to the playoffs. There is nothing there to point to. There are a bunch of teams that haven’t been mentioned as playoff contenders that could run that schedule.

Kentucky and Mizzou would be 9-3 at worst with Clem’s schedule.

Sort of surprised UF isn’t higher, they have Alabama, LSU & UGA on tap. That’s no easy row.

Yeah..very suspicious numbers here.

LSU is coming off a pretty awful 5-5 season, and the East outside of Georgia and Florida stinks. Florida’s OOC slate is FAU, South Florida, Samford and FSU. if any of those non-FCS teams ranks better than 70th in SP+ I’d be surprised.

True, their OOC sucks, but it usually does.

How is Alabama at 16 and A&M at 48?
‘Bama plays,
Mercer
S. Miss
TN (SECE near bottom feeder)
N Mex St.
Plus the SECW teams which includes TAM at 48.
TAM plays,
Kent St.
Colorado
New Mexico
Prairie View
SC (SECE near bottom feeder)
Plus the SECW teams which includes Alabama at 16.
I just don’t see that much disparity in the two schedules. Both loaded with cupcake non conference teams. Is Southern Ms. worth that much over Kent? Does playing Florida give ‘Bama that much of a SOS boost? Because TAM plays Mizzo, which should probably be close to the same level as Florida..at least not enough to make that much difference.
And TAM playing Bama…I just don’t see how Bama’s SOS is 16th if TAM’s is 48th. What am I missing?

Must be that SP+ figure, didn’t it get wanky when he went to espn?

It’s all like numbers and shit.

You left off Florida and Miami? Two top 15 (AP) teams?
Texas AM is 6, so that’s 4 top 20 teams on Bama’s schedule to 2 for TAMU.
And as always with Connelly’s rankings, the ratings are more useful (but less tweet friendly) than the rankings. I doubt the total ratings gap between 16 and 48 is as dramatic as the ranking gap.
