Tell me something…

Is there anything more soul crushing than a 10-play, almost six-minute, fourth quarter scoring drive to put the game away when a team does nothing but run the ball against an opponent that knows what’s coming but can’t do anything to stop it?

You know, like this?

Real Conan “hear the lamentation of the women” stuff there…

They were definitely driven before us.

As I said in an earlier thread, borderline erotic!

That drive was a thing of beauty – watching Auburn put 6 men on the LOS and seeing multiple georgia backs getting rushing yardage against them just made my heart (withered bitter thing that it is) sing.

And THIS is why you rotate backs!

Couch coordinators would see two things wrong here:

Why are they playing Bennett instead of getting a qb reps for the future!?!

They should just run the offense! We aren’t leading by enough to just rtdb!

Personally, I see championship caliber football.

  5. Best part about that drive was the gradual change in the composition of the crowd as the Auburn fans all gave up and made for the exits

I was working at Egleston yesterday and when I was finished I was able to listen to what was left of the game. The first play I heard was the TD throw to Ladd and luckily I got to hear this game ending drive before I got out of FM range. It made the drive home something I likely won’t forget. I’ll watch the game today so I can see something other than Howard’s “Zeus with a 6 yard gain to the 45”.

Absolutely an “We’re bigger and badder than you “ kind of drive. Absolutely a thing of beauty.

    • With a name like yours, you HAD to love that drive…I know I sure as shit did…

That broke their will…sucking so much air and time out of that stadium…and then scoring ANOTHER td…it was near perfect…going up 4 scores and leaving them with roughly 7 minutes in the 4th…Dawg Nirvana

What could be more soul crushing – being an Auburn player looking up in the stands and seeing your girlfriend making out with a Dawg Fan.

Kirby definitely broke Auburn’s DL in the first half. On the first drive of the second half, we were moving their DL several yards back. It was a noticeable regression for them and there was really never a doubt after that.

Watched the recording (tape for us old guys) last night. They kept cutting to the stands and the look on the Auburn faithful’s faces were priceless. That can be a clueless bunch over there. It was like “oh, we are going to lose”… LOL

Thank you for posting this. I haven’t had a chance to watch anything besides highlights as I’m working seven twelves right now. I get off early today though and will watch when I get home.

I’m glad to hear they showed the demoralized Auburn fans. I vividly remember in that 2017 loss over there they kept showing the Auburn fans and there is one image that has stuck with me. There was a shot of a group of Auburn people about my age, early forties, dancing as Soulja Boy played on the stadium PA. There was this one particular woman, I can’t describe the look on her face but every time I think about Auburn that image is what comes to mind. They always just assume they’re going to win even if they have no reason to think they will. They make excuses when they lose. And they have fully embraced being the dirtiest, most low class program in college football. I hope they are all ass mad today.

I only remember losing to Auburn 3 times since 2010. So what is that? 9-3 against the Barn since 2010? It’s actually worse than that because CMR owned them. And UGA now has won the last 5 straight. I think that what Georgia has done to Auburn the last twenty plus years is about as bad as what FU did to Georgia during the Spurrier through Meyer period.

Yeah it is. I know the one Auburn guy that I know well hates Georgia more than he does Alabama. Openly roots for Alabama when they play Georgia. Maybe that’s why. They are a weird fan base to me. Florida fans think college football didn’t start until 1990 and they’re bad for sure. South Carolina fans are delusional and think they are something they aren’t. Tennessee fans seem to have come to grips somewhat with the reality that they won’t ever be what they once were most likely. And to me LSU fans get a bad rap. The horror stories are much worse than I’ve personally seen with my own eyes. But Auburn is a weird fan base. And it’s hard to put into words.

Sadly, I cannot agree since Auburn has a national title, an undefeated season, and played for a 2nd national title.

That’s a lot better than our dark days during the Spurrier-Urban GA/FLA times. :/

My wife (a tennis player) calls that the “look of Doom” – says that when she sees that look on an opponent”s face, she knows they’re beat.

I will say in this regard that B. Jones acquitted himself well in Salyer’s absence. Not sure how many other of the young guys played but I will confess being concerned when Salyer went down.

You expressed my thoughts exactly. Jones looked really good (makes you feel pretty good about next year) but Salyer and company have finally begun to develop that chemistry that only happens with time together. On that note, any word on Salyer? Something serious or just day to day?

I only know what Kirby says publicly and the gist of that was that both Salyer and C. Smith felt like they could go, but Kirby decided not to risk it and to wait for a medical assessment. Nice to have that luxury. I have to wonder if the A&M qb hurt himself more in that last drive. The adrenaline probably kept him from feeling it at the time, but today? Next week?

That’s two weeks in a row that we’ve done that. We also ran it out against Clemson in week one. These make me feel as good about our chances this season as anything else we’ve done on offense.

  18. i noticed one play down around their 20, milton with the ball, that we had three TBs in, setting the edge. is that common, a 13 personnel? i’m taking notes..

The offensive line played outstanding. EARS has always had good, tough defensive linemen, and we whupped’em. Matt Luke has earned a ton of respect from me. Also, on that touchdown drive the Senator edited above, notice the tight ends, #0, #19, and #86 with great blocks, along with #84 in the slot!!
    Hell, #54 with a pancake!!

  20. Of late, I’ve seen some teams like Arky with a big running QB run long drives, but I can’t think of anyone who has a committee of 3-4 RBs that just ground and pound the way won sustained soul crushing drives the way we do. Just beautiful.
